Has anyone got a recommendation for me? I cannot seem to find the type of DJ I am looking for anywhere. Being a fan of house music I do not want a cheesy wedding DJ for my reception. In my head I want a cool DJ who can actually mix songs together properly. Is that too much to ask? I live in Cambridgeshire - any ideas please let me know!

Not all wedding DJs have to be cheesy - the majority of them will play whatever you want them to play! x

I agree, for the DJ portion of our evening, we have given them a playlist of songs we went played. But you doo have to take into consideration the range of attendees and tastes, yes its your day so should have what you want but you don't want a empty dance floor.

Have a meeting with the DJ you choose first, ask them to send you set mixes so you can listen to their work, ask them to send track listings and cross out the songs you really don't want, talk to them about your style of music...ask them questions and test their knowledge...all DJ's should have a wide knowledge on music and most DJs are accommodating and will listen to what you want :)
