I'm in desperate need to try and save money. We are going as basic and cheap as possible so do you have any money saving tips. Right now I'm resigned to having a registry office ceremony and social club reception which we are fine with but there must be something we do to reflect ourselves within our day. I just want to be married and understand I'm not getting a dream wedding that's fine but I'm worried the day will start and end at home with my hubby, sharing an ordinary taxi will spoil the mood of the day. Would you share a taxi or is that taking money saving too far? I feel special anyway because I have found the love of my life and we have been together 10 years I just don't want to sell ourselves short.

Look for small things to save on. I've fallen in love with an invite that on the website cost £4 each but a woman at our local church makes cards for charity (they look amazing) and can do an identical invite for half the price. It's saving us quiet a bit.
What we did was (I'm a student so same as you money is really tight) make almost in priority order of what we wanted most so we got those and left others out.
As for a cake get a square one in the kitchen that gets cuts and the one on display make a fake (polystyrene) and have that decorated for cutting. The quests won't know the difference and it will save you loads of cash.
As for cars do you have any friends or family that drive a nice car (mercy or BMW) you can get some ribbons at your local craft store and make it look really nice.
Have you booked a venue as some places offer a room for the bride and groom the night of the wedding. If that's the case your OH may want to take there car so you have a way to get home following day. Also consider the venue do you need a lot of decor or is it nice on its own?
And don't be afraid to haggle with places we did and got 15% off or venue decor.

Sorry that's a lot of info but I know how you feel. Hope this all helps!

Look at discount websites as well. We got it venue for the ceremony right through to evening reception with food (meal and evening buffet), DJ, drinks package & a room for us the night of our wedding for 40 people for £1300!
You can do really cheap but still have you in there

Ive found lots of things on €b@y! My bridesmaids dresses / their shoes / hair pieces. All very reasonable! My bm dresses cost £29 including postage and they look exactly the same as the ones in the bridal shops! Ive come across sashes for chairs too on there and many more things like favours etc.
Agree on looking on % websites too there was a venue not so long ago near me for a really good price.

The 'bay really is one of my top places to pick up wedding bargains!

Look for sample sales and wedding dress outlets to save megabucks on your dress. Book a date a bit later in the future to give you time to properly save. DIY a lot of the details yourself. Love this decor or that photo booth? How might you make it yourself?

Also keep an eye on all the cheapy shops (p0und1and, 8&M, h0m3 & bar9a1n) for cheap but lovely table setting and wall decorations etc.
