    Hi ladies,

Just wondering if the beauty conscious/nail experts among you could impart some helpful advice please!

I'm getting my nails done the day before the wedding and I'm desperately trying to grow my nails and get them looking nice for the big day. I normally bite them and will never have anything on them like false nails because I can't stand having something heavy on my hands and hate how falsies look (my personal opinion, no offence to those that like them). Any tips on getting the length long enough for 3 weeks time and treating my nails right? My cuticles are always really bad as well and nothing I do seems to help :/

    Thanks :) x

Have you got any almond oil? They say that's meant to help your nails get stronger and also help them to grow x

I wear acrylics all the time, but id say get cuticle oil and push back your cuticles to get them looking healthy, strengthening polish and no biting, I used to find if i had a coloured polish on I didn't bite my nails, I've now been wearing acrylics for about past 6 years but I used to bite. I think it depends on the person doing your nails but if you wanted longer nails maybe try gel nails rather than acrylic xx

I'm awful with my nails too and I find that S@ally H@n53n products work great.
I use their maximum growth and find it works great.
use it as base and top cote with a good nail varnish (I use one of their h@rd @s n@ils colours too)

Hair, skin and nails tablets from H&B are good, also strengthening/conditioning base coats of polish help. When they do your nails they should file them and tidy them up anyway so don't worry too much about cuticles at this point, concentrate on getting them stronger and no biting :D They can do shellac/gel etc on shorter nails, but there does need to be some nail ;)

I am weird Mrs W2b I love the taste of that stuff haha!. I am pleased I have a couple of weeks off before the wedding to hopefully let my nails grow a bit more, water and latex gloves don't help my nails/hands at all x
Paint your nails Catherine I find I am always more aware of my nails then and try and do anything not to chip the polish and my nails are a lot better for it. xx

Oh I know that horrible stuff - my Mum used it on me when I was a child to stop me sucking my thumb but it never worked!

I'll try your tip Carol - I normally do that as I know if there's nail varnish on, I won't bite as I'm really pernickity about it but they need to be a bit longer to make that work lol x

If you have time to squeeze in a shellac polish this week, get that done as its made to last, I used to put polish on but if I ended up with a chipped nail id end up picking it off and biting my nails lol xx

Get them done now, they'll shape them, treat them and go for gel polish. It'll make them a better shape for 3 weeks time and promote growth.

I used to bite mine badly, but after having my jaw dislocated during wisdom tooth removal I can't bite anymore!

These are my real nails, with gel polish they grow really fast.

I think this is a good excuse to avoid washing up for a few weeks too. My nails always go softer after washing dishes. X

I use n@il 3nvy by 0p1. It is pricey but has always worked for me. My ring finger nail suddenly started to split down the middle, I went back to using this product and touch wood it seems to be sorting it out.

Calcium tabs, and some nail strengthening oil from b00ts or the like. or get get them done now, with shellac (like nail varnish, but way stronger , anti chip etc) to discourage you from biteing

I also use the S@lly H@nson stuff, file buff and polish once a week to help encourage them to grow. I've always had really week nails, they literally peel but been trying to look after them more recently and it seems to be working. I always used to wear acrylics as my nails are so rubbish but the company I work for don't allow it so I had to get rid a few years back
