My H2B sister's venue said ladies heels had to be the size of a 10p piece or bigger because of the flooring. We're not allowed confetti at our venue either but I don't mind. I've always hated the idea of it going down my dress and getting stuck in my hair.x

Goodness.. all these rules and regulations! Are they going to measure everyones heel diameter when they arrive hjl200uk??
As for confetti, we had problems too. The registry office said we had to have biodegradable. The wedding car suppliers said we had to have non-biodegradable so they could sweep it up and colours wouldnt run. We have gone for something in the middle - rice paper. Hope thats ok, if its not, tough!

Could you use bird seed of some description instead of all the other stuff? They cant complain becasue the birds will eat it...and it wont harm them.

Good grief, they're strict! My venue won't allow confetti but will allow rose petals (which worked out nicely because that's what I was planning anyway).
My SIL2B had bubbles at hers because they won't allow confetti. She said no one's clothes got stained.

Seems the rice thing is a myth - I just had a peek at Snopes to confirm it :) they do make a good point about it being really slippery to walk on though!

My venue only allows biodegradable, so to ensure that my guests dont turn up with the usual confetti, i have bought the confetti and will tell them they dont need to buy any on the invites. i bought 2 different kinds, 12 boxes of dried rose petals and 12 boxes of rice paper shapes, so that it dont look too samey as its being thrown.

I also have a fisher price bubble machine, i didnt buy it specially, but i might use it aswell.....

We asked our venue the other day and they said yeah go for it whatever you like we'll clean it up. awesomes. That means I don't have to worry about table decs too so can have what I like on the tables.
I assume (although I will ask) that they would also allow us to set off chinese lanterns. :)

I must be crazy giving myself only 6 months!

we are not allowed crystals on the tables, they said it was because if someone puts a drink down on them because they are not flat the drinks go flying. i must also ask about lanterns. i want to send off just 3, in memory of both my parents and H2Bs mum.

I'm so glad we're allowed confetti, I dont think it'd feel right without it! They'll even let you throw it inside, and have people stood at the top of the big stair case and throw it down onto us.

Seeing as we're going flower free it would seem a little contradictory to have confetti. But I know a lot of places are stopping it now, so it's worth checking.

On a side note, for anybody that is having Chinese lanterns, please check that they're wire free. The ones with wire are landing in farmers fields and causing injury to livestock.

awww i LOVE those photos of bubbles! I want bubble too, we were thinking it would look super cute on the photos, and from yours can see it would.

I agree about the rice, it harms birds.

For you ladies who ahve been told no confetti, maybe it could be because theyre too lazy to clear up, would they agree to it if you could find a few guests willing to help sweep it up afterwards?

doesnt have to be expensive, int he summer the pound shop sell trays of about 12 packs of kids bubbles, all you would have to do is paint them white and stick a little bow on the bottle to spruce them up....

We're not allowed confetti so we are having bubbles, the problem is making sure guests dont turn up with them. I have a few defiant aunties that say a wedding is not a wedding without confetti and what will they do if we throw it anyway!!! I have warned them not to, so fingers crossed!!

Yes I was going to say bubbles. But double check , as alhough some venues say no confetti, they will allow it slightly away from the entrance or off the grounds. So if its a church for example, as long as its not to close to the entrance etc. I would ask, they may say no, but then at least you no for certain x

I think confetti is a right pain to get off the floor - even when it's swept away straight after. And I think ut bleeds when it gets wet - I don't want stains anywhere because someone spills something. But I do love the colourful effect of confetti.

My alternative plan - I'll make many medium sized flags with one word each on - like Yay, Hooray, Woop (along those lines) - these words will be printed on in many different cheerful fonts. Each guest gets one and can wave it and cheer when we exit - Still fun and mess free!
