I’m having a dilemma and finding this difficult to understand - my friend booked her wedding a couple of weeks ago for august next year, I’m so excited for her and we’ve been non stop talking about it since - after a difficult start to the year for me and my partner, he and I have spoke about booking our wedding and he suggested that we moved it forward to May next year from May 2022, I was really excited about the idea of this. When I spoke to my friend about it she absolutely kicked off with me, told me that she didn’t want me to get married before her and that all she asked is that I do it after because she felt like I was stealing her thunder and I just don’t understand this - we have completely different friendship groups, it’s months before, completely different venues, themes, etc and I don’t know what to do she’s made me feel like her wedding should be more important than mine and now I’m having doubts about booking it - am I being mean by wanting to book mine before or do you think she is being unreasonable?

You're definitely not being selfish. You have to do what's right for you both and you two are the most Important people in the wedding!
I think we can all get a bit self centred with the wedding planning and your friend will realise that soon and also be really happy for you just give her some time to calm down but you haven't done anything wrong and have every right to be excited.
