Can anyone please help. Last October I booked our wedding at this venue, what we wasn't told was in February 2014 they went into administration and when we booked this they never told us, had we known we wouldn't of booked it. We only found out today, 5 months after the booking that there are new owners when my uncle called the venue to book a room (as all invites have gone out) and the service he received was appalling, so my uncle txt me, so I called the venue to be put on hold 20 mins, finally got to speak to a manager who informed me that they took over 2 weeks ago after the administration, the venue sounds in dire straits, all the staff we met and part of the reason we booked it have all gone, they have ripped up all the gardens ( were getting married outside in these gardens) I am going there on Saturday for crisis talks but just wondered if anyone has been affected by this hotel group in surrey going into administration and if anyone has had there wedding there in the last 3 weeks and if so how was it.
Please help anyone

Can I suggest checking your contract and also speaking to Citizen's Advice Bureau before going to this meeting so that if there is any legal jargon you can quote at them you already know it. Would you be looking to get your deposit back and get married somewhere else at this point, or getting a discounted rate for this place because it isn't as advertised? x
have you got insurance, this would be something that maybe they would cover x

Just an update on this. This place is awful..... After mistake after mistake I met with them with 10 weeks to go (days after the burning of clandon house) and the new owner didn't like my attitude, put her hand in my face and told me to ssshhhh then proceeded to cancel my wedding, as I was too demanding.... Eg I was upset I still didn't have a menu with 10 weeks to go, didn't have a tasting booked, had 3 wedding coordinators in 3 months and they wanted to charge me another 1400 so I said that wasn't good enough, so she cancelled... Since found out cashed in on people losing their bookings by a local stately ho,e burning down so cancelled my wedding to cash in on another wedding 3x as much as me, I get that's business but it's very unorthodox... I would tell any b2b to avoid this place like the plague. Silver lining, found better venue and they are amazing!!!!!!

Oh my goodness Emma. What an awful experience you're going through. Putting her hand on your face and telling you to shhh is so patronizing. Oh god I'd have gotten so angry.

bloody hell, i have just seen this! i would go to the press as well, they sound awful! id be demanding compensation for the stress of it all, new invites etc, they can't just cancel for no good reason, just because they can get someone else the same day and charge them more that is absurd! I'm pretty sure if you cancelled your end of the agreement, you would be charged X amount of the total amount owed!? I know had i cancelled mine with less than 3 months (I think it was 3 months) I would have to pay the FULL amount quoted!
Good to know you found a better venue, but I would be publicly shaming them for their disgusting attitudes
