Hey ladies, we had our menu tasting session last nite and the food was gorgeous! I am soooo glad we did it as the food we thought we would choose we didn't! We had to chose a stater, main and Desert each (it was pre Orderd) I had a tomato, Mozzarella and pesto tart to start, beef, roasted veg and mash potato for main and a eaton mess for Desert and it was sooooo yummy! My oh had goats cheese and red pepper salad to sart, pork, creamed cabbage and mash potato for main and lemon and vanilla cheade cake for Desert. We both tried a bit if each other's so we could make a proper decision. When we first looked at the menu we thought we would go for the tart for starter, beef for main and eaton mess for Desert. But when we tasted it all we decided to have the pork main and the cheade cake for Desert! The beef was lovly but not quite cooked to how I like it (personal perfeance) and orthough I love eaton mess was a bit too heave after the 2 courses. If you venu offer it I would really recommend fur you to do it, we thought we knew what we would go for but whent for some thing different. They also gave us 2 glasses of wine (one red and one white) I don't dink so only took a sip of each and my oh dosen't really like wine so we just decided to go with what they gave us and hope for the best lol! Xx

We're not wine drinkers either, so our wine choices will be based on whatever the venue recommends too lol. Wine is wine isn't it?? (All gross!!) Haha.

I reckon the food will change at our venue before we have a menu tasting.. they've just had a big refurb of their kitchen and are hiring a super duper chef. So we've got an idea what we would choose from the current menu but trying not to think about it too much as know it's probably likely to change! Excited though xx

The menu changed a bit from when we first booked our wedding. It was fairly easy for us to choose, it's funny as we both don't do 'posh food' I didn't understand some of the things that are in the menu lol! So we chose some of the more 'normal' things on the menu... Flossy- yep wine is wine in our oppion we just whent for the house wine. Nither me or oh will be drinking it, I just hope every one will like it! Xx

We will go for the more 'normal' things as well! I think sometimes things are just too posh and confusing.. obviously we're going to choose whatever we want, but we want everyone else to enjoy what they're eating as far as possible too, so something more 'normal' is a good option :) I'm sure everyone will like the wine - it's free booze after all x

Sounds yummy, I look forward to going for our food tasting but think we get to have couple choices for each course so lots food to try haha. Its always and picking food as u always have one who moans but as long as ur happy with what u picked don't let other opinions affect ur choice x

Mrsc2b- we got to chose a starter, main and Desert each. So we had a 3 corse meal each :). What we did was give each other a bit of our food so we could tast both we did that for all 3 courses. That what we got a tast of both and a true idea of what we were eating :). Xx

Agree completely. Always taste what you plan to eat on the wedding day. We're hiring a caterer to do a Sunday Carvery-style meal with canapes being the "starter" and two of the canapes we tried was unexpectedly delicious. Devilled Prunes, Tuna profiterols and a few other things.

We get a free food tasting for two and if we want to take more people its £30 pp!!! So think it will just be me and oh haha. I'm very excited :) and can't wait especially as I can't send invites out til i know the food options lol. Think we do it 6 months before hand x

We never actually went for a menu tasting, we would only of had starters and desserts as the main was a lovely Buffett instead of a hot meal. It went down so well as was a warm day, and not the usual Buffett of sausage rolls etc, it was beef cooked rare, salmon, etc, was lush. Glad you had yours and were able to chose something you didn't think you would.

Tbh I have been to meany weddings where there was a hot buffet and I have really enjoyed it (probley more then a sit down meal.) I liked the fact I could choose what I wanted to eat and not have to eat any thing I don't like. But my venu didn't have that option, also I have always wanted to have a sit down meal fort wedding. I'm not sure why I just always imagend my wedding day with a sit down 3 corse meal. Xx

It was not a normal Buffett. Was quite a posh one, and it was not left out either. It was enough time for people to go up and get stuff, and more if they wanted but then it was taken away.

No, we did not eat u til between 6-8 so did not need an evening one. If we had though, we were going to have their fish and chip supper.

Everythhing sounds great, We are having a meal at a restaurant in Gibraltar on 9th Oct only 6 of us so be picking off the menu that day. Had our food tasting for our blessing the other week. Got to taste the canapés, There are 2 starters which everyone will get off Serrano ham and Melon and Deep fried brie with a cranberry sauce. We got to taste 3 dishes, chicken stuffed with mushrooms, a pork dish and a lamb dish, As I don't eat mushroom they made a special chicken dish for us stuffed with peppers and wrapped in bacon which is what we chose for the main meal. There will be a desert of chocolate fondant, When broke open the sponge cake the warm chocolate just oozed out, or we could of had a trio of puddings but the chocolate fondant was too lush not to have. Also we are having cupcakes for our wedding cake so be plenty to eat. Got to try the wines and cava, as my H2B does not drink that was my job so a bit tipsy by the end of the day! xx

CarolH81. Your menu sounds really nice too! We had the option of a chocolate tort but thought it would be too heavy. I don't drink at all and my oh drinks very little. So we didn't have a clue with the wine! Like I said befor free wine is free wine they should enjoy it lol! X
