I contacted my venue earlier this week asking about the menu tastings and when we should arrange these. The wedding Co - ordinator has come back and said they don't offer menu tastings free but we can try the menu in the restaurant on a 2-4-1 basis. Now, I'm pretty sure when we had our initial meeting she confirmed they offer menu tastings - granted she didn't say 'free' but had mentioned it when discussing the package so assumed it would be included in overall price. Have others had to pay for their tastings? I don't want to make an issue of it if it's standard practice.

Have a look at your contract, or their T&C's on their website. It should be detailed there

I've checked, t&c's don't refer to menu tastings, and I couldn't see anything on their website. I'm so sure she said what was included in package and said "oh and you get a menu tasting". Guess it's my own fault for not double checking before!

Ours was free for us but we took two friends and paid reduced charge for them, we had four options for entree and main meal and could choose two to try ( we persuaded them to let us try three) and there were for option for dessert but we only wanted to try two .
We just had to let them know in advance which dishes we wanted to try

Our menu tasting was free and we took along best man. I think it showed she was confident in her food and she had every reason to be as her food was amazing!

I don't think we get menu tasting in our contract, will check, but I think we know what we want anyway. We'll be going to eat at the venue for different reasons anyway before the wedding.

We don't have one as part of our package, that would have been another 50pp for the top package and half the extras in it we can source ourselves for cheaper!
As it's a large hotel we would probably eat the restaurant at some point anyway :)

I THINK we get a free tasting but we'll be checking when we pay our next installment in October as our coordinator said it won't be until next year we need it sorting by.

We had already picked our meal, nothing was mentioned about a taster. We asked and they were more than happy. They booked the dining room out for us and cooked the full 3 course and canapés for us both xx

I'm not sure if we get one with our , but hope we do. The venue is not really a restaurant is a gorgeous venue but does more b&b , its main income is weddings. So I can lube in hope but if not will just take the oh and his bil to taste the 3 starters and the 4 mains. My oh is a apprentice chef and fbil is a head chef. So if there's any problems he will be able to deal with it.

We havent booked our venue for reception yet as still undecided on two places. One thing I do know is I will have to inform them of my vegetarian guest. Ive heard amazing reviews about both.

Thanks ladies. Our venue has good reviews for food, and we've chosen our menu already, but just wanted to try our choices before the day to check quality and presentation (I know, picky, but that's the way I am lol!). I guess I could try and blag a free tasting, considering we are actually going to end up spending more than originally thought!
