i went into the shop a few days ago to get measured for my dress and i was measured over my clothes. i was wearing jeans and they actually meassured me over my buttons as well. i asked if that was normal to do that because i didnt think that would be accurate and she said yes and then said it doesnt really matter how accurate they are because almost no brides dress fits and that i should expect to pay at least 150 for alterations once its in the shop but will probably cost more. is this right? im having second thoughts on how much my dress is now i wasnt expecting to pay hundreds more on top

It is normal for majority of brides to get alterations, how much is altered varies between brides xx

Have you paid a deposit for yiur des yet? What are you having second thoughts about, the dress itself or the shop? Do you not think the shop in professional? If you are having second thoughts then look at another shop, it's a lot of mines so you need to make sure yiu are 100% happy xx

I was measured over my clothes as well so that's normal. And yes most brides will have to have some form of alteration... it's very rare that the dress will be a perfect fit. If you think you could get the alterations done cheaper elsewhere then you don't have to use the shop's seamstress x

went back in because i wanted to try my dress on again before officially ordering it. @michelle ive paid for half but i havent ordered it so at this point i can still change my mind. they decided to meassure me again. this time in my undies and of course my meassurement were completely different. feel much better that it will be accurate now and after seeing dress again. im sticking with it and ill just shop around for alteration costs. even with my heels on the dress is still too long! felt like a right shorty

I was measured in my underwear, and then we sat down with the dress size chart and checked the size we ordered.

Just hope I don't put on any weight now.

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

I got measured when I bought mine two weeks ago, over my clothes but then seeing the size they needed to order it has given me the push I need to shift some weight. I am now going for a second measure next June before they put the order in so I am hoping for a much smaller number. I know they will still need to alter the dress but hopefully there will be less dress to alter :)
