We have booked and paid a deposit on our venue however, in the back of my mind I'm still pondering if to have a marquee! The venue can hold up to 250 for the evening but I just can't settle thinking it's going to look cramped! When we went to view the venue which is beautiful, the dance floor was still out from a wedding the day before and I just think it looked too small. Now, the venue do offer a marquee but naturally for a bigger cost..... At the minute we don't have a budget as such and because our wedding is July 2016 I feel we have enough time to manage our money for it! What are your thoughts on a marquee? We have exclusive use of the mansion anyway and would it be a waste to have a marquee as well?
Any thoughts are appreciated xx

When we got married, we did consider possibly having a marquee, but like you've said, it would not go into our budget and they only used certain people. We could have got one slightly cheaper but it was not the company they used. The day ended up OK in the end, we had the ceremony and reception in the same room and the turn around was brilliant. I was worried it might be too small as it was not a huge place, but between the room and the bar it was fine. I think if you have exclusive use, then it will be OK without, but cannot say for sure as not sure on the size of your venue.

I agree with GF. Considering you have exclusive use of the venue I'd say it would be fine.. we have exclusive use of our venue and there are lots of different rooms inside. So while the venue itself isn't actually the biggest, our guests can float in and out of different rooms and so one room should not be too cramped at any one time.. I get the feeling your venue might have the same arrangements?
If the venue haven't said anything about providing a marquee then they must be comfortable that there will be adequate space for all your guests. I think a marquee is an unnecessary added cost when you already have exclusive use of a venue. It may seem like you have ages to spread the cost at the moment but it will soon come round. For me, I would rather spend that money on something else xx

And also you say the dancefloor was out from the previous wedding still, not everyone will be on it at the same time, our dancefloor was not huge, we had many dancing most of the night, but plenty of room between that and the bar.

I agree with gf, not everybody dances anyway, and the ones that do generally don't all get up and dance at the same time. Our dance floor was only the space of taking away two of our round wedding breakfast tables and it was plenty even with the band set up there too x

I think you are right. It could potentially be a cost that i do not need!! If they state they can cater for the numbers then i should trust them. There are multiple rooms that people can float between and also the bar and wedding breakfast area is away from the dancefloor so not everyone will be in the same place at the same time.
I have arranged to meet my wedding planner and go and check out the venue again on the 23rd Nov so i can get another good look at what is what then. Im going alone too and not with H2B so i dont feel pressured to rush (If that makes sense).
I may ask if the dancefloor can be made a bit bigger as i got the impression it was a slot together thing..... I like a good dance!!!!
Thankyou ladies, you have settled me down now :-)

It will be good to see it again, hopefully then you can picture everything more clearly in your mind :) also make the most of having that time with the wedding planner and ask him/her anything you need to to put your mind at rest! :) x

Flossie, I'm going to ask if I can take a few pictures so when I start doubting things again I can look and reassure myself..... It's so hard to visualise everything in the venue so pictures would help x
I'm really starting to get a few ideas now and really picture what I'd like.
The H2B is leaving me to it
