Soooo I had my wedding make up trial this morning, and apart from My eyes, I really didn't like it. I felt like a drag queen. Not enough colour in my face, my lips were too dark for me but I kept getting the response of how different it will look when I'm in my dress and how photos wash you out. That's fine, but what about in person!
My mum had booked this as a surprise for me, and she really liked it so I don't want to come across ungrateful, plus if I do it myself, which I'd prefer, the make up artist will still come over to do my mums.
What to do!? Go ahead and then just fix my make up once she's gone? Help

Just explain to her what your problems with it are and maybe have a look for photos of how you would like it are and show her. She should listen to you and do it how you want it, you shouldn't have to fix it yourself because you're not happy with it. I'm sure your mum won't think you are being ungrateful, you need to feel comfortable on your wedding day.

My Make up artist explained to me how make up looks different in types of light & on camera/in person, so she is going to do my make up in stages. She will start with a light coverage & get me to go around different rooms in her house to see how it looks in different light, then take photo's, then she will build it up & we'll walk around & do pics again until I am happy.
If you weren't happy with it but will be getting her to do it on the day, you need to tell her what you didn't like.

I had the same response when i went for my 1st make up trial i was like, OK? I look weird, but had booked in to go try on my dress straight after and with the dress, it looked really nice. so was happy and understand that your going to look different. but im not sured to having any make up on before, but have since been trying to wear it more etc as they showed me how to apply it porperly which i now feel more confident.

You do need to tell her how you feel otherwise you won't be happy with your overall look. Jut say I really liked the eyes but I didn't feel comfortable with the rest and that you still want to look like yourself. She should do another trial if she wants your custom and you to actually be happy with her work. Although, I do think you should probably try and see it next to your dress and like Lana said, it may look better than you think x
The point of the trial is to get it right for you, so you should ask her to tone it down a bit as you don't like it so heavy?

I had quite a few trials and hated each one, and ended up doing my own with no regrets
