Well I made a fruit cake and it came out a bit dry, so I decided I will make a sponge cake.....I made red velvet cake and it was gorgeous.........

But I have done so much DIY stuff and I am happy that I have, but I really dont want to push myself too much and not enjoy the
pre-wedding stuff....so I have decided I am buying a Tescos wedding cake....and I will decorate it in the way I origianlly wanted my cake.....so I still have a bit of DIY going on but only the icing.....I really want to just get the dresses done and dusted, and relax on the run up to the wedding. So buying the cake is the easy way out. I will get the large sponge cake, and a small fruit cake to sit on top......I have cake dowells that anni gave me......sorted.

This is how I am going to decorate my cake, I have the flower cutters , and I will be colouring the icing ivory...and adding edible pearls and diamonds into the centre of the flowers

I love that cake very elegant
I think in all honesty its very sensible to buy the cake and decorating it still makes it personal

There are so many people out there who will tell you
    what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

That cake is stunning! Great idea. I'm not a fan of fruit cake so never try it tbh but i always suggest sponge to my friends and customers. Really love the design :)

I think you have made a good decision there because like you've said you had done enough DIY and you do need to ease off abit and enjoy the build up without to much worry of how the cake will turnout. The picture you have posted looks great it will look lovely.

Thank you, I just think it looks like antique lace......

    ANYWAY..................

I just spoke to my friend on the phone and asked her if she was going to be at home later for her to pin the hem of my dress.......she said yes she is.....I mentioned about the cake and that I was getting it from Tesco etc......

She offered to buy it for me and get her cake-making friend to decorate it.....as our wedding present!

I told her I only want a 2 tier cake, 1 large sponge and 1 small fruit, and she said its saved her the headache of finding something to buy for us...I will get a photo of the decoration I want and she will pay her friend to do it. She said her friend might also make the cakes instead of buying them from Tescos.....

Sooooo happy and relieved about this......

Wow, that is a beautiful cake! Please post a pic of your finished cake when you have done it. Good choice to just ice it yourself, I do envy you being able to do that, I don't think I'd be able to ice my own cake! xxx

InDreamland, I now dont have to do it at all, but if I was going to then I was just going to use these flower cutters and stick them on.....i bought the whole set, and you just roll out the sugar paste and cut them out....
