    Hi all,

This is my first post in this forum so please be gentle! I have paid for my dress which is Lilian West 6293. I am going for my first fitting in a few weeks and cannot wait! However I would like to be prepared when I get there and have my veil to try on with the dress.

The ladies in the shop were lovely but I feel that they would want me to buy my veil from them and looking at the prices I really don't want to spend that much on one. I have found some on eBay for less than £20 which suits me and looking online the feedback on them looks great.

My question to you ladies is, if you can see my dress- what type (length, detailing) would you suggest I go for? I think because there is a lot of lace detail in my dress I should go for a plain one, and maybe one that sits on my waist or just below so as not to draw attention away from the detail of the dress? But saying that I am not sure what to look for.

Any help and advice would be very much appreciated! Thank you all

    Natalie x

Just googled it - beautiful!! I would have a full length chapel/cathedral length veil either with a lace edge or no detailing and with a few crystals dotted about :) what you should ideally do is go back to the shop though and try on your dress again WITH some veils so you can see what suits. I did that and was the best way otherwise you are doing it on guess work ;) x

On second thoughts, I think I'd go with a simple veil with just a few crystals so you can see through and people can appreciate your beautiful dress! No point over-powering perfection eh? ;) x

Good comment above, try some on at the shop they don't need to know your not getting one from them, but at least you would know what works for you. Xx beautiful dress by the way xx

Aw thank you everyone :-) I think I will do just that- I just find it really hard to say no to the 'hard sell' but hopefully that won't happen as the ladies seemed lovely the first time. Thanks for the reassurance on the dress too I had been having my doubts- just can't wait to try it on again! Xx

Hey I just googled the dress, is this it? if so it's gorgeous and I agree with Catherine, a simple veil would work perfectly with this as you want the focus to be on your face and the dress.

Click on "My wedding" (orange tab) and under your profile pic there is the option "My details" click on that and at the bottom change from "Private" to "Public"

And gosh that's not far off then. How's the planning going?

Your dress is lovely! I would say a simple veil too. I would definitely go to the shop and try a few different ones, lengths, maybe a pencil edge on too as I think that would nice. I tried the shops veils then went home and bought what I wanted online lol x

Aug 10th next year so not far from the 1yr mark. Got Photographer, Venue, Caterer, Dress, My wedding ring, shoes, Tea cups (we're having an Alice in Wonderland theme) and Humanist booked. We know which cake maker we're using as well as chocolates fountain hire but need to find DJ, Floor hire, Bouncy Catle hire, decorations, sweets for the sweet buffet etc. We're having a photobooth but building it ourselves using a polaroid camera, handmade back drop and setting up a lighting rig. Bridesmaids dresses have been chosen. OH is going to organise shopping around for kilt hire for him and his BMAN and we need to get his ring made.

Save a Dates made by myself (see albums) were sent at the begining of this year and invites will be sent 6 months before as we have a lot of people coming from all parts of the UK and they need to make arrangements.

    Still lots to do.

I'd say go for either waist length where the skirt starts to fan out or just long enough to meet the top of the dress. And I agree, simple will work, although maybe lace edging would compliment the edging on the train.
