My friend's daughter has the most amazing voice and play the acoustic guitar and I'd love to have her sing as I walk down the aisle but...
When would she start/stop singing and would it be a bit weird her just singing on her own and randomly starting up and stopping as I walk down the aisle. I don't want it to feel awkward.

I thought of having her play/sing while we were having our pictures taken to entertain the guests but again I don't know if it's weird cos guests either have to watch/clap/comment on her set or ignore her which seems rude. She'll be playing as 'background music' but she'll be in the room.

Is it just simpler not to have her. I haven't asked her yet. Has anyone had a singer at their wedding or seen one?

    xx

We are having my friends singing in church. One friend is an opera singer and is singing whilst we sign the register and my other friend has a lovely voice and will sing later on in the ceremony. I have been to weddings and everybody clapped, and I would want them to. I think its a natural reaction x

But do they stand around and watch like a personal mini concert? I want my guests to chat amongst themselves not feel that they have to watch the singer. I also don't want my singer to feel uncomfortable with 120 ppl staring at her singing!

I think its a nicer idea to select a song as it will be more special.... signing of the register is an ideal chance and is not unusual at all.... becoming more popular and always gets the guests talking and the emotions going.

So she wouldn't sing me down the aisle, just while we're signing the register is that right? How long does it take to sign the register? I remember thinking at my H2B sisters wedding that it took quite a while. I wondered if they'd got lost

Ask the registrar closer to the time how long it will be... It depends if civil or church. It would be nice having her during the register though. As you said it can take a while and it will keep people entertained. Just pick several and tell her to keep going until youve finished signing.
