So I've just seen a post on the book face asking where to sit your own children on the big day and it got me wondering what most peoples thoughts are... would they be on your top table or with friends/family? I will have a 3 year old and a 1 year old so gonna put them with family but what are everyone else doing???

Like Emily, I don't have children but I'm thinking if I did I'd sit them with family.

I also think it depends on how old they are too. Being 3 and 1 I'd be tempted to say with family so it saves you having to look after them and you will have a chance just to enjoy your meal. If they are older and don't necessarily need much looking after then on the top table x

My friend had her little girl at the top table she was 1 and half but had her sat in between hubbys parents, so they weren't doing the looking after as such and weren't distracted from eating or enjoying their meal so that might be an idea too if you wish to have them at the top table xx

That's an idea Sarah. I wouldn't want to be looking after them and would want to be enjoying being married but that's a way that they can be with you still

Another thing is that they will probably be more comfortable with grandparents who will most likely be on top table too.

our son is almost 6 and will sit between my Oh and my mum there is no where else he would be.

my friend had her 6 month old son beside her OH and her 10 year old daughter next to her next to grandparents etc.

I couldnt imagine our son sitting anywhere else however he is a very big part of the wedding too and he wouldnt be comfortable sitting with anyone that isnt at the top table.

I would want mine on the top table but we have 3 and my parents are with other partners so if we stick to tradition then there will be 10 at the top table as it is :-/

I couldn't imagine my kids being sat with other ppl as they are my kids and I'm so use to looking after them that it would make no difference to me plus we are having one each side of us so my mil will help with one and my mum can help with the other one. And my moh will be sat on a table with her oh and daughter as I can't imagine how strange it would be for her to sit watching her daughter and not being with her esp as she'll want her mum x

It really depends on so much. It can depend on who else you want on the top table and whether you can fit everyone on. If there are a few people you might decide only to have yourselves and children on top table and put bridesmaids and best men together. It might depend on whether there are other children of their age who they might prefer to be with. It may be that there are other family members who the children don't see much of and it is a good chance to spend time with them.

I voted top table purely because that is where we had ours as we have seven between us and I wanted them there as it was about us all joining together as a family.

I don't have children but I think it would depend on their age. Older ones might prefer being on a childrens table if you had one so they could be with friends whereas younger ones may need to be closer to you to look after. I think getting the grandparents to help out too is a good idea so you get a bit of time to yourselves. X

My 2 will be with us on the top table. My nieces/child bridesmaids and nephew will be sat with my brother and his wife/bridesmaid, my other brother, my other bridesmaid and hubby wil be sat with them to so thought if they had my 2 as well it wouldnt be fair (plus the table would have 10 on so be quite packed!) Xx

we have one each from prev relationships and we had ours on either side of us, we were going to sit them on another table, but we didnt know who to seat them with without them subsequently being separated and having no one their own age to talk to (there were other children there, just not many and not on the tables I would have ended up seating them at lol)
