Wedding Forum - July 2015 Brides...

Lana - I have booked a lady who does hair and make-up, and as far as I know, she does it on her own. She will be doing my hair and make-up plus just the hair of my 4 bridesmaids. They will do their own make-up. This is going to cost in the region of £300 all in (with trials). I found her by googling, but then had a look at her FB page for more honest opinions/comments on her work, plus she has a lot more pictures on there of previous work.

IVe now found a cake maker who will make my 3 tier creation for £197 plus £30 delivery while everywhee else Ive been quoted £320/350 plus delivery

But Now have no car for OH due to company selling it! And cannot find one that is suitable within budget etc!
So looks like The guys will just have to do the normal boring thing of drivibg to the venue!

Ooo we have all had a productive week so far, reading all the status on here makes me even more excited.
Thanks for the praise on the records, our theme is musical so thought they would add to the theme, records are so hard to get hold of though!

Lana thats a great price for the cake, im struggling to get a quote under £400, I did make a mistake though because I asked a lady who makes them from her home, I asked her how much she would charge to do me a 3 tier plain iced covered cake and she said about £80, she asked what it was for, so I said our wedding, so she then told me that she charges £400 for cakes for weddings. I was so shocked that she was going to charge an extra £320 for the same cakecas the £80 quote just because of the word wedding :-(

Sounds like a plan, its where the money is, think I went into the wrong career haha

Get someone else to order it and have it delivered to their house the night before lol

It was my daughters birthday on Wednesday and her party is this Saturday so been busy.
Am off to the wedding showcase at my venue on Sunday though, it's all set up as it would be for a wedding I'm so excited hoping to sort chair covers whilst I'm there and book in the dj

I am brand new to the site, joined today but i see i have some wedding day twins already for the 18th July 2015, Starbabe78, Laurak7 and MrsMillen2B.

I am very organised i think for me as are many of you on here. I am also mega excited so god help me this time next year lol.
I have booked the registry office and we are having a local social club for the reception. We have also managed to get some photos to be taken at Hartlebury Castle inbetween and this i cant wait for the pics will be amazing.
I have the makeup lady booked and my MOH's friend and my cousins girlfriend are doing our hair.

We are getting married at 1130 hrs so i have arranged venue dressers as there will be no time, i imagine it will be quite an early start.
We are having a magician for a couple of hours in the day before the meal and speeches and on the nighttime we are having a photobooth with all the props etc and the guy makes you up a guestbook
We have sorted a photographer, and i have sorted my dress yay - the 2nd one i tried on. I really love it gonna sort the bridesmaid dresses out in May hopefully just gotta get all the girls together as they live all over.

The cars we have are amazing have a look at Pilot Wedding Cars website, i have totally fell in love with them.

We have sorted the cake out too. Still seems so much to sort though. Rings I think will be the next thing, think we shall have a visit to the jewellery quarter to see what we can do.

I am looking at veils and jewellery at the min which seems to be a mission as i am allergic to silver jewellery, does anyone else have this?

im milling over where to stay the night before, was originally planning on staying at the hotel, but have recently been rethinking this watching lots of dttb, been thinking about staying at my mums the night before, rooms at the hotel the night before will cost £180 but not sure how much it will cost for car from my mums to venue, when I was looking for one for my groom is was around £250 but that was for a special american car. I know my venue has a couple cars they can let us use, which would prob be the cheapest option, but the pics online are not very clear, they look like 3 doors, and I don't want to have to clamber in the back. but i know old cars seem to hide the back door handle. but pics are not clear. I need one that will be able to transport my daughter too, as want her with me, so will need seatbelt at front at least.

I would walk, I think it would look super cute. Theres also the thing of being able to have some pics taken in my mums garden with the girls , but at the hotel its not massive and the gardens is where the ceremony is taking place, so would have nowhere for photos before apart from in the room, but even thats a bit risky as you can see the garden from the window.

^ im having trouble with hair accessories, I want a side hair clip I think, but I want one with stars etc on/in but have not found anything that im wow at even on 3tsy.

Just say to them your on a tight budget and would like the dresses back to try and sell after to recoup some money, I take it there not the kind of dress that could be easly reworked to wear again.?

ask them, if its not really there style, and technically there yours as you paid ,don't see the problem, else there just in there closet taking up space. I still have mine from when I was younger (10) but my mum paid for it. but have tryed to sell it a few times but no luck.

well if you used your friends atleast that will eradicate the something borrowed problem lots of the brides have.

I've seen quite alot online and when I tryed my dress on Its a bit hollywood style and they had one in the shop they tryed to put on me but took it off straight away as its just not my thing, I either want a hair peice or proper tiara (not the wire work ones).

Welcome Michelle, you the day after me. Make sure you play the midweek card saying, as its on a weekday what discount doo you doo.
Only big budget thing I can think you have missed is entertainment eg DJ, band.

Hi I need help me and my partner got engaged at Christmas and he drops into conversation the other night "we should set a date maybe sometime late next year" so I'm thinking September time, I joined here yesterday and sent out for brochures and to get quotes, how long does it take to plan a wedding I've never done it before and am panicking I'm not gonna get it done as the other half isn't bothered what I do, I don't have a very big budget, can any one give me any tips on the whole thing please thank you

You have to try and stick to your budget and make the day about you and your fiance. There are lots of good ideas on UK bride on how to keep the cost down so I would check them out

Maria just looked up your venue very nice :) I just booked my venues ceremony in local cathedral and reception in the waterfront museum in Swansea . I will start dress shopping on 19th July with MOH and my ushermaid (my new term lol)

Lol nope she is defo a girl lol We have quite a big wedding party and I have my MOH sorted but didn't want too many flowergirls/bridemaids so my friend is doing usher role and basic bridemaid duty as in helping MOH with hen do so we call it an ushermaid lol

I have suggested her doing a reading but she is quite shy speaking in public and doesn't want to mess up which I told her she would be fine ! Signing as witness could be option thanks :) H2B has 6 nieces/nephews so we want them included and then adding extras like best man and MOH etc numbers start adding up . How many BM have you got Lana ? :)
