After searching for nearly a year I have finally found my perfect cake toppers. Im having a gothic styled wedding as some of you know and I found an image of a cake i wanted. It was love at first sight for me and my H2B
Once I found the cake I wanted then came the difficulties of finding someone who can make it for me. I was told by cake shops local to me that they will not do the cake and offered me alternatives but thats not who I am. I kept searching and accidently came across a cupcake stall at our local sunday market and got into a discussion about cupcake verses wedding cakes. I bought her cupcakes as she had many flavours to try and her presentation was fantastic and as the conversation went on she was intrested to see the cake so many had turned down. As I wasnt carrying the picture with me she told me that she would take my email address saying she would send me some images of gothic cakes she could do. When the email arrived.. there was my cake :D I organised a tasting and chose 4 seperate flavours and she was more then willing to even do a specialised top teir that my 2 year old would be able to have as he has 5 of the major 8 food allergies.
Next came the search for the figurines for the cake toppers and tonight..I found them. I've had to order them from canada and when i went to check out they told me they would not deliver to Nrthern Ireland, so I tried my brothers address in england. But again it told me no. Luckily I have a long term friend who lives in America who told me to send them to his address and he will forward them to me :D Thank God for americans.
So I now have the cake of my dreams :D

So happy you found the cake of your dreams its awesome and not very traditional and love the shape and are those the figurines your after how much are the figurines your buying are they made of clay and are they personalised??

Aw thats such good news! im so glad you found that lovely cake lady! I had an idea for a cake and so many cakemakers turned it down - im like how can you do that? It wasnt even that complicated to be fair. It was a case of they were giving me THEIR ideas, not what WE wanted...why?! You want my custom and my money, you do what I prefer!
They lose out at the end of the day!

on the cake there is the original bride but im not using her. im using the image ive shown you.
There are not personalised but they are perfect for us.
There are too many people that try and change our images of what cake we want. It was getting depressing when I was been told constantly that they wont make it, then told me to get a cherry blossom on the cake instead. Sorry that wouldnt tie into what im doing here. How many people would get a cherry blossom for halloween. Im not saying its halloween themed but hopefully you all get my point

Thanks girls. Its got the right gothic tones without been morbid or halloweeny.
How many ppl do u think have just been pushed into a cake they dont actually want. One even said I was to have it stacked normally because this way it wouldnt stand. My cakey lady swears its easy enough to do. plus fact she wants to use it as part of her portfolio afterwards is fine an means im obviously going to get good work from her.
first 3 tiers from the bottom are real cake and then the very top tiers. bottom is choc fudge, 2nd is bubble gum, 3rd sherbet lemon. and top for my son is honeycomb :)

I hadnt either so it was like xmas. she has a sunday market stall that i visit on regular basis too to try her new flavours. I got a really good deal too. she orginally from yorkshire and so am I but she now lives in belfast an i live just outside it, so her husband who is Northern Irish got lost when we got chatting away and didnt understand how suddenly i got the cake for £500 and extra cupcakes. I honestly dont know if im more looking forward to the wedding itself or the cake!!

I'm not at all gothic (correct description?) but think your cake looks amazing! I cannot believe people refused to make the cake you wanted. If you were just going to choose from a set sample you may as well nip to your local supermarket and save hundreds! If a cake shop refused to consider my ideas I would walk away too. The fact that you were told the cake couldn't be done says more about their baking skill IMO x
