Im with Sam. I think my Dad will say hi and bye for his speech, and theres no chance in hell he would dance with me unless he was totally bladdered haha.

    Love the idea though xx

I'm not having a father/daughter dance as I'm not overly close to my Dad and I dont think he'd understand the sentiment behind it - totally defeating the object! He'll have a boogie after a few bevvies but he's not the slow dance type!!x

I'm not having one either. Never heard of it till this website anyway. And it will be my step-dad and son who will be giving me away as my Dad passed nearly three years ago now.

My dad is far too shy! He doesn't want to do a speech or anything either. I don't mind though i wouldn't expect him to do something he doesn't feel comfortable with x

My dad danced with my sister at her wedding but I don't fancy the idea I don't think. The idea of everyone watching during our first dance is enough, let alone doing it all again for a father/daughter dance!! :0)

    Can't wait to be married!

I'd love one, I've needed my dad all my life as my mum suffered as we were growing up from a lot of mental illness' he was my mum and dad (I send both my mum & dad mothers day cards lol odd I know) Although I just wouldn't know what song I'd like? Or whether he'd be up for it on the day, he's turned into a right moody old fart haha anyone got any ideas on song choice?

Love the idea of father daughter dance, but will have to sit dad down and talk to him about it. My father doesn't like the being the center of attention and already he feels he will be with wearing a kilt xx

    Fingers crossed he says YES

I had one - dad got very emotional during it, which was offset by the humour of my pulling my hankie out of my dress and mopping his tears! I saw the video my eldest took of it and it was lovely :)

H2b wanted a small wedding in australia because of this reason! xx

Nope, I am not worried about the dance with my Dad, he is managing to give me away, but has said he wasnt confident in makin any speeches etc, so i said we wouldnt bother with the speeches/dancing malarky....probavly will still dance with him later in the eveningbut more spontaniously xx

My dad and I and my h2b and his mum are having a dance. We are having it as a tribute (for want of a better word) to my mum who passed away 15 years ago. For us it will be a way of making her part of the day without making people feel too sad.
