I was wondering if anyone is taking their pets with them on their wedding day. I really want to take my little cavalier king charles. I know it sounds mad but she is like my baby and goes every where with me, she is spoilt rotten but well behaved.

I don't think a wedding is a place for pets. You will be needing to think about feeding toilet etc all day and those are difficult enough for the bride. Would be better to get a sitter in my opinion

My hairdresser got married on Saturday and got special permission to have her dog at the ceremony. I'm assuming that they had somebody to look after him for the rest of the day.

Due to the number of people and the way weddings are I think it could be quite stressful for pets. I know cats are different but I would love to have my two cats there with bow ties on lol we are putting them in the cattery 2 days before wedding and until 3 days after so at least the will be away from the craziness :)
Dogs can be included but I think it easier if they had someone to take them away after a while as really after pictures where else to keep them for them to relax and like others have mentioned, toilet issues :)
Somehow always connected , finally became friends .
Friends became soul mates :)

I won't be doing this as our cat is very nervous but I have heard of people having their pets brought to the venue for photos after the service and then taken away again before the meal and evening starts so they are included but don't have to worry about them. Mind any muddy paws on your dress though! X

My friends getting married at the end of September are getting married at the registry office and have hired the village hall for a party after, so they will be bringing their two dogs to the reception as they are their family :)

I would love to have my shar pei Dazzle with me on my wedding day as she is my baby girl (I can't have children) however it wouldn't be fair on her. However I have arranged for her to be brought to me on the morning of my wedding so I can get a few pics with her. Also I know she will calm my nerves . X

Although I love my pooch and would love him to be a part of our day, it would be too much hassle. He LOVES people and would just get too over-excited, and probably end up bouncing over everyone and ruining their outfits haha. For one day it would just be nice to not have to worry about looking after him - he can go away on a nice little holiday and have a fab time :)
If you desperately want him there could you just arrange for him to be brought to the venue for a few photos? x
Happily married

I'd love our cat to bring the rings to us but it's never going to happen he'd run off with them! lol
I agree with the above, it depends on what type of day you are having but I imagine it could be stressful for her.

I would love our dog at our wedding but it would be too much hassle and extra stress. He is so well behaved but like others have said you have to think about feeding and toilet etc and he would probably be jumping on people lol! If I was going to have him the only thing I would do would have somebody bring him for photos, I wouldn't have him for the whole day. He will be in my parents during the wedding as we are only having the evening so it won't be too long by himself, then he is there for them to look after that night then whilst we go on our honeymoon.

I'd love for my cat to be at our wedding but unfortunately I think she'd get a bit carried away and probably lick all our guests lol! I'd say though you are probably better off having someone looking after them as it'll be a lot for an animal to cope with and quite stressful, and the last thing you want it for them to get scared and run off and get lost xxxx

I think some people do but generally I think it would be too stressful on them and someone would have to take them for toilet breaks along with taking them out if they started barking during the ceremony. Not to mention accidents happen on the day; My oh knocked over a glass which broke and got everywhere (even I my dress train) so it wouldn't be worth risking it.
Maybe I should have brought my snake ;P

my partner and i are having a direct friends and family only ceremony and the vicar has told us we are allowed our girl to our wedding, were getting married in December and we have a Siberian samoyed, were having a winter theme and have the perfect snow dog! Snooki has been a huge part of our relationship so we are having her for the ceremony, our friends teen daughter who often walks snook is looking after her for the ceremony then she goes home, so really she's out of the house for no longer 3 hours and thats usually how long she's walked for a day... i think if we were having a large wedding party we would of just let snooks stay home, i don't think putting dogs in position where they will be uncomfortable is fair, but if you now your pet will be comfortable for that short period of time then i don't think its a problem xx
CommentAuthorMrsC2bee
We won't be taking our dog ( will need to out her in kennel for night I think) as we will be at a hotel and it won't be a place for dogs and I wouldn't want to spend the day worrying about her x
CommentAuthormichgib
Well I think our wedding is going to be a small one during the day so she would be quite happy then she could go home later when it gets more people.

My OH has a bull mastive who lives at his mums house. He is the most laid back, polite dog I've ever met..... OH wants him on some photographs and so OHs brothers friend is going to bring him up for the photos and then take him home again.
As long as he doesn't slaver on my dress I'm ok with that lol
He's a BIG dog

He's a lovely dog..... The first time OH bought him round to my house, Harley (the dog) wouldn't come in until he was told he could. He sat patiently at the door til OH said, come in! He's a diamond and fantastic with the kids x

We did seriously contemplate bringing our Cleo with us on the wedding day but decided not to because she gets a little over excited in crowds and because there will be children there running around we don't want her getting riled up. The castle we're having our day at also provides holiday cottages, one of which we will be staying at, so Cleo will be staying nearby there during the day so someone can pop by and check on her from time to time as anyone we would normally rely on taking care of us will be with us on the day.

I regularly get asked if I'm going to have my dog (a beagle) and my horse at the wedding!
I honestly cant think of anything worse! Horse poo, Green Horse slobber and an overexcited dog would not make it easy to keep the dress even vaguely clean!
As I show my horses I also suffer from a show pony itis! which means i just cannot cope and get very stressed if everything is not perfect! God help me if someone else plaited him up for me, or if his bridle and bit were not immaculate.

I think if you can trust the dog to behave it should be fine. I grew up with a Cavalier King Charles and they're lovely dogs with brilliant personalities, so I wouldn't expect her to be stressed by the environment. She probably would want to make friends with everyone there. You will need to give someone the job of taking her outside regularly though, and make sure water and food are easily accessible. It will depend on the rules of the venue as well. I've heard of people having a dog as ring bearer (with a cushion tied around them), and it can work well, again provided they can be trusted to go where they are told. It wouldn't work with animals that are harder to train.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.
If your dog is well behaved I think it's a lovely thing to do to include them in your day. It would be nice to have them on the photo's. Maybe assigning a trusted relative or friend to look after the dog on the day would be wise, like someone else said you don't want to be doing toilet duty in your dress.
I have a Wheaten Terrier called Boots who most definitely will not be anywhere near our wedding. She would be up on the tables and scoffing the food in the blink of an eye.

I'd love our two kitty cats Jesse and James at the wedding, especially as a bride seeing a black cat on the way to the ceremony is supposedly good luck, but unfortunately I just don't think we would be able to sort the practicalities :(
