Hi all h2b and I have decided we are going to try for another baby once we are married (aug 6th 2016) when would you get implant removed. I don't mind having it out just before wedding but don't want a big bruise on my arm or you come on for my wedding day :( any suggestions?? X

Maybe come off it a couple of months before the wedding, but go onto the pill for those couple of months... that way you can make sure you don't have your period on your wedding day as if you are due a break on the pill you can just skip it.

Or come off a few months before and use other protection when you have sex.... that way you are giving your body a rest from all the hormones and can get a feel for your natural cycle before you start trying?

don't you have to have them changed every so many years anyway? If it was me i would have it out a few months before your wedding, and like donna said just use other protection until your ready to try, if you go onto the pill it may take your body a little to come around from all the hormones.

I was worried about how long it would take for fertility to return so I had mine taken out in February ready to start trying in October. Although fertility is meant to return immediately I have heard so many stories of it taking up to a year for some women I know (for example a friend had hers removed 4 months before me and is still waiting) so decided I'd rather have it removed sooner rather than later... my body was back in its natural rhythm a month later so now I'm just waiting to start taking supplements from July. My bruise lasted for just over a month but I don't know if I'm just a slow healer or if that's normal.
If you don't want a bruise or risk having a period on your wedding day then how about leaving it in until afterwards as there's a chance your body could return to normal immediately? If you do have it removed before hand, and your dates fall on your wedding day/honeymoon then you can go back to the doctor and ask for something that delays the period until you're back.

I had mine out dec 2012 and fell pregnant dec 2013, ur fertility is supposed to return straight away but it took me 12 months to conceive. Everyone is different and there is no actual timing. Get it out before the wedding but as mentioned go on the pill until ur ready to come off completely

I had mine out last may,and only had a proper period for the first time this month,as didn't have them at all when I had it in...and they say it's a bit hit and miss when your fertility goes back to normal, they say straight away but surely if like me,only just having a first period,I'm not sure!x

That's pretty shocking considering they say it comes back straight away.... I was considering going on it until just after the wedding as at the moment I'm not on anything (we use things) but that puts me off.... It took me a year for my periods to come back after being on the injection but at least they warn you that can take up to a year.

When I came off my injection it took over 6 months for my cycle top return, so I'm coming off it 6 months before my wedding

When I had mine out, my periods returned immediately. Those who are taking a long time to conceive may be that whether you had had it in or not, it may still have taken that time, especially if it is a first pregnancy.
