Hi, we have also decided on a Lapland wedding. If you google it there is loads of info. I googled planning Lapland wedding and it came up with some good info! Think we should keep in touch lol I think this will be easy or really tricky, but would be great to have someone in the same boat....erh, sledge! lol xxx

Yay!! I have found quite a lot of info now and think I have venue and accommodation sorted etc (well I have quotes) but its great to find someone else doing it too!

I think I am set on the Laino Snow Village Ice Chapel for the ceremony, the North Star Chalets in Levi for us and Guests and then we will stay in the Tepe Cabin for a few days! We are opting for me and Dad to arrive on Reindeer sledge and Jamie and his bestman on a snowmobile, and then we want the big fireworks display.

We are looking at Jan 2016, when are you planning for??? xxx

omg that's pretty much exactly what we are planning, but maybe the kammi for our wedding night :D It all depends on how many people will be able to make it as to where we stay but so far the Chalets are looking like the winner!

I have been googling dresses and things too. There are some beautiful heavier dresses that I wouldn't even consider in this country or a beach wedding, and the cloaks/coats... oh my goodness!!!!!

I left a message on your wall for a wedding planner I found. They have good testimonials and have good reviews elsewhere on the net too. I haven't got as far as how we will all arrive yet. All I know is I want a reindeer or horse sleigh lol I can see my h2b wanting the snow mobiles though haha

We haven't set an exact date yet. We are hoping 2016 or 2017. My mum was married the day after valentines day so I would love the day before which would make it even more amazing for all of us, and my mum and stepdad didn't have a honeymoon, so would just be amazing for them :)

Have you investigated winter thermals lol. Im not sure about having long johns under my dress, but then I don't want blue legs either lol xxx

Im a newbie so wasnt sure if I should reply to your post or post or here so done both lol!

Hello, yes I have heard about Ruth and have a quote from her!!! I also found Charlotte at Travelbee very helpful and informative too, and have found a few recommendations on trip advisor etc for her too and they take care of the wedding and all the accommodation as one package which is all ATOL protected! Lapland weddings is another company...

I will def be wearing thermals under my dress! I went to Lapland approx 5 years ago with my Mum it was one of her Bucket list things to do (she died of Cancer)and we had an amazing time! But it was very very cold -20!! Once I have found a dress I will start seriously looking for nice thermals, but at the moment I have just looked for general thermals, stay away from cotton and silk is best I have read and then you have a second normal base layer and then outer layer. Ive been looking at snow boots too. Have you seen the Ugg I do collection? Im looking at getting the bailey ones in the sales if only for getting ready in etc, they are not waterproof which is a shame but I havent seen anything better yet really.

I love the capes! Have seen some really nice ones online but nothing in the flesh yet!

Im going to have a winter wonderland themed party in the Uk once we are back on the cheap and cant wait for the Jan sales to get some bits for it!

omg I am loving you right now lol all the things I am starting to stress about you are already on the ball with lol

I e mailed Ruth, so waiting for a reply. I will give charlotte a message too, see what she come sup with! I have only started thinking winter wear, other than the dress, with by the way I have fell in love with a couple!! I am wanting to shed a few pounds before shopping though, but seeing as I have a while I am not stressing about it lol. It is nice though to have the option of a fuller, more princess, ball gown type dress. It wasn't something I had considered before, but I am so excited now!

We have a few snow boarding/skiing shops locally, although no idea why, seeing as I live in Norfolk which is flat as a pancake, so no chance of skiing on wet slopes lol so I will be hitting them up next week for a snoop!

I am so sorry to hear about your mum, but I am happy for you that you got to experience Lapland together. It will be like she is with you on your special day <3

Do you know what they do for the wedding breakfast or equivalent, decorations etc, not that I think we would need them in an ice castle, but you never know ;)

I am loving your winter wonderland party theme idea! i was thinking of having a hen/stag here then meeting for a big party before we go xxxxx

Thanks Teresa, yes its great that we are in the same boat and can bounce ideas of each other!

Thank you, yeah I think it will make it more happier for me being somewhere where we had a magical time rather than a formal thing in the UK, I lost my brother too the same year :( so really wanted to make it extra special and magical and will do something to incorporate their memory into our day...

The Laino snow village ice chapel package I am looking at comes with flowers for the alter and then they have mood lighting etc so dont think you need decorations and the ice chapel near the lake in levi ive heard has a row of candles and may have flowers on the alter too...

Laino snow village you can have the breakfast in the ice restaurant or log cabin or you can go somewhere in Levi for it instead ive read that lots choose to have the meal at the Pihvipirtti Steakhouse or the panorama hotel, some of the hotels have private function rooms too.

Im currently making a wedding website so I dont have to write lots of info on the invites they will be very simple and direct people to the website that will tell them more, ill send it you so you can see once its completed...

That sounds like a nice idea! I dont know what ill do for my hen yet but I was thinking of Londons winter wonderland in hyde park so it all ties in to lapland!

Ive found a website that tells you all you need to know about clothing ill send you aswell, but its on my other computer!

We are thinking of having scratch cards in pretty little holders/envelopes as favours so we can easily take with us they wont get broken and are cheap and you can get snow themed ones and who knows someone might win tons of ££!

You may struggle with mainstream travel agents, as I'm at Thomson and we don't do anything like that, only the hot destinations,Europe in summer, long haul all year round. Think you will need more like an independent, like one that's not part of a chain, so no co-op , Thomson, or thomas Cook etc x

Well... I havent got any further with the planning other than e mailing Ruth but haven't had a chance to read her reply as i have been working so much :( i need Danny to sit and agree a savings plan and budget but he's shying away from it at the moment which is frustrating. Grrr. He's hoping to be promoted at work soon, which will give us more money a month to play with, but i am so impatient that i want it all done now lol. I have been trying to look at arranging things independently but again, its a slow process because of time!

Claire, do you have any idea how far in advanced you can book or pay deposits? ! I have seen one.company do take deposits but haven't found the 2016/17 prices yet but really dont want to miss out on our dates haha

I was talking at work about getting married in Lapland and some patients overheard and one in particular got really excited for me bless her. She asked that we put it in the paper once we are married! Such a sweet thing for her to ask, it welled me up a bit

    Hey

Yes I have to bug Jamie all the time to get an answer from him too!! We are quite lucky that we have a midweek lodger and we use that money for extras and home improvement but we will use that to save now instead.

I believe that 2016 prices come out in the next month or so and 2017 wont be released until Nov/Dec 2015 but you could explain to the companies that you want to book and I am sure they would sort something out...

Aww bless... we have patients at my work too, where do you work? I work in a dental practice. xx

I think the ones we do are not mainstream though they're booked through an external company so probably wouldn't be ATOL protected anyway, I know we don't do them in the wedding brochure x

    I work in a hospital :)

Ahh thanks, will have to make some decisions and start putting deposits down. Was thinking that we will need to sort out wedding insurance too but need to check if it covers Lapland or would we need a different type of insurance.

I think we have made a decision (ish) about the colour scheme. I believe we are going with a deep blue, but the exact shade is yet to be decided!! I know, I am shocked that I got an answer about something too lol

The girls at work were asking about what sort of wedding favours we would have and some of the finer details. I hadn't even thought about it :/ I have been googling (my best friend at the moment) some of the things we could take with us and I love the idea of giving our guests more than just photos to remember the big day by :)

You are lucky that you have that extra bit of cash to put away, that must help so much!!

Im off to play look-for-favours, so will catch you later. Happy planning xxxxxx

    Hey

I have been so busy lately that I havent had chance to log on here!

Ive now booked and paid deposit eek! So wedding is 27/01/2016! Then we have booked the north Star Chalets for guests with flights etc and will be sending invites out in the next few weeks so we know who is comming and who isnt and people that are coming can start saving etc!

We are thinking of the snowflake scratchcards in a silvery envelope with good luck on or something for favours as they are cheap easy, people might win and wont take up much space, I do like the little white snowglobes but again cant fit them in the luggage going to be bad enough will all the wedding stuff and clothes for 7 nights!

I saw some silk white thermals in John lewis today that might go well under a wedding dress today! Pricey at £38 but could wear them again I guess.

    xxx
