Wedding Forum - I am now Mrs Maniatt!...

Hi All!

I am now a WIFE!!

Just a quick update, we are packing for our honeymoon tomorrow so will give a full account when i get back!

We had the most perfect day ever!!! Nothing major went wrong, the sun came out for all of the photos, I cried at speeches, and our nerdy first dance went down a storm!

Okay - I am back from one amazing honeymoon (we even went scuba diving in the sea!) and can now give you a full run down of my day!

I woke up at my mams at 8.45am on the day of the wedding, to find both my mother, and one of my sisters had already showered and done their hair! Everyone was really calm, even me! Mam kept saying that on her wedding day she wasn't nervous either, just excited!

We had a continental breakfast at 10am because my parents didn't want to cook (fair enough) and then I had a slight panic after a quick snoop on the book of face - where I found out that the person driving my make-up artist friend to me was in hospital! I rang my make up artist to ask if she needed picking up, and turns out the girl had left her mother in hospital for the sole purpose to get said friend to me on time! I was so honoured and when she showed up I told her lift to get back to her mother!

My mam did my hair, and friend did my make up so when the photographer showed up at 11am he had photos of touch ups. My family arrived to get dressed, my flowergirl (now niece) and her mother showed up (now SIL) looking fabulous and we have some beautiful pictures of everyone opening their presents! We did have a little shock when the photographer left our house early, missing out on photos of me leaving, as the 2nd photographer (who was at Rich's house capturing moments there) needed to be picked up! My dad had a bit of a whinge about this as he had painted the house especially, but luckily my sister was on hand with her professional camera so she managed to get those classic pictures. And luckily, it only drizzled for a bit in the morning, by the time I left it was glorious sunshine!

Our car showed up bang on time, and was gorgeous - and the driver was friendly and witty - all you could ask for really. Me and dad had some small talk in the car - he was the only person getting nervous out of our lot!

Then we got to the church, we got the entrance photographs, the vicar told me rich was there, and we entered... then i got nervous! I'm not a nervous person usually, but I was clinging to dads arm as we walked down the aisle!
And my ring bearer and flower girl walked in front of us perfectly! After a slight fiasco at the rehearsal when they refused to do it, they walked perfectly hand in hand in front of every one - they were perfect!

Rich refused to turn around as I walked because its bad luck, so I just saw the back of his head on the way down, but as I reached him he turned and I got to see how happy and nervous he was too! He was shaking as much, if not more than me! When dad sat down I linked my arm through his, 2 of us together now, boy!

The service went perfectly. A 2 week old baby cried once and was ushered out by his mother, and i heard a few of my friends bawling their eyes out, but other than that, no distractions! We signed the register and left as husband a wife <3

We still had glorious sunshine for the photographs at the church, then me and rich got in our wedding car and were swept off to have a few moments without the crowd, whilst the driver sorted our champagne. We even got to stop just before reaching the reception to take down the top of the car! We arrived and everyone was there already, sat around our gazebo for extra photos. We got to doing the last groups photos when a big black rain cloud appeared, and it bucketed down just as we took the last one! We ran into the reception, thrilled that the rain had held off that long!

Then came perhaps the only big problem of the day - someone showed up that was only an evening guest, and wondered why she didn't have a seat! luckily, one of my friends was ill and couldn't make it, so she neatly fitted on the friends table and just had to eat his food options!

It rained all through our wedding breakfast, then stopped in time for the speeches, and the sun came out for the rest of the day!
My best friend was Master of Ceremonies, and organised every thing brilliantly. Dad gave a regurgitated speech for the third time (the same one he used for both of my sisters) the best man had everyone in stitches, Rich was terrified but spoke brilliantly, and the my best friends speech made me cry before it was my turn (I couldn't stay quiet for that long!)

And then the party started. The DJ was hilarious, the kids carried on being well behaved and danced constantly, our first dance went off without a hitch and we remembered every move of our practise to our nerdy compilation and it went down so well! Then I had my dance with dad and loads of people cried - it was a surprise for him, the song he used to sing me as a lullaby - i think it made his night!

In the evening party, people kept coming up to me and giving so and so's regrets at not being able to make it, and I didn't care! It was the best day of my life, the best evening and night (we managed a little fun before passing out!)

Do everything how YOU and YOUR PARTNER want it, and it will be a day that can't be beaten!
