    Hi Girls,

Ive had my bridesmaids over last and I told them I want to go abroad for a long weekend for my hen do, how much do you think people would pay for it? I dont want to see a hotel I like and have my heart set on it if its going to be way out of budget. So far I have 9 confirmed people and 3 that haven't replied yet xx

I woud be happy to pay about £200.00. My friend had hers at Blackpool for a long weekend and we paid £140.00 for that and then with the attratctions it was almost £200.00, I would have much prefered to have gone aboard for the same money.

me and another BM have been looking at prices today online, unfortunately you cant get prices for any mroe than 9 peopleso will have to go into the travel agents at the weekend. We are thinking that it will prob cos the same for 4 nights as it would for 7, for some reason it often tends to be cheaper, so she has suggested a girly holiday incorporating my hen, and maybe spend ing about 250-300 for a week, all inclusive if we can get it x

I came back from my Hen Do in Portugal last week. We went Friday to Monday (Easter Weekend).
12 of us went and we had a 4* hotel, all Inclusive. In total for hotel, flights and transfers we paid £274.
I'd imagine you could get it cheaper, a lot of us (including myself) are teachers/work in a school so we had to go during a school holiday and it was also a Bank holiday weekend. We still didn't think the price was bad at all!

I am surprised that you cannot get prices online? We booked everything for ours online for 12 of us with no problems!

I think it really depends on their financial situations hun. Personally I couldn't afford to go abroad as I just don't have the funds to and nor do quite a few of my friends, however I have other friends who would think nothing of spending £200-£300 on a hen weekend away so only they can answer how much they would be prepared to pay for it really, sorry not much help I know xxx

I have to be honest, I wouldn't be spending £200, I can't spare that. If I could I gladly would. I'd probably go to £100 if I had to, but at the moment if someone wanted to go abroad I'd have to decline. Perhaps you could have a local night out as well as the trip if there are girls who can't afford it, so they can join you for something more within their budget.

£200 for a good friend for flights, hotel and breakfast included. Max of £100 spending money (I don't drink)
However, for friends but not really close I'd rather max spend £50 on a night out.

Everyone has different financial situations so you'll need to consider some won't be able to spend that kinda money as they simply won't be able to afford it. That's why my weekend was in London so local plus it was broken down into 3 bits so people could decide what bits they wanted to do and what they could afford to come along to.

I think as lots of the above posts have said: if its a good friend then i would probably be willing to spend up to £200/£300 depending on my situation at that time!

My hen is a week on Friday and my close friends have all paid £150 for the weekend (going to London) and then will need more for spending! Also having a local hen for other friends that arent maybe as close or who couldnt afford it!

If it was me i would defo get some rough prices for different destinations and see what everyone says! :) Hope it all goes well :) xx

I have just had mine and felt bad that the accommodation was £30 and the mini bus was £23 - we went to Whitby for the Goth weekend. Personally I think going abroad is a lot to ask friends to pay out for especially as they will no doubt be paying again for things for the wedding.

I would be willing to spend up to a couple of hundred for a friend/family member (and have done) but for mine I am getting really paranoid about the cost so I'm trying to nudge my BMs towards finding something well below £100 if possible... might take a leaf out of everyone else's book and see if there's a nice cheap getaway availble online.

If it is a proper holiday then fair enough, but I wouldn't expect my friends to spend over £100 for a hen night, and I wouldn't spend over that amount either. My hen night is all being kept from me (until the date - next Saturday!) All I know is we are having an activity, meal then going out for drinks, and I have been told that it has cost people £20 each before food and drinks, which I think sounds reasonable and I don't mind knowing my friends are paying that much, and I wouldn't mind paying that for my friends.
Maybe one day when we have money I will think differently, but having just been made redundant myself, and knowing that alot of my friends have lost their jobs/still in education etc I think its better just to enjoy some cheap time with my friends, celebrating my 'last night of freedom' xxx

I know someone who got really upset and resented the fact she was pretty much forced to pay £350 for her FSIL hen, for which she was also a bridesmaid. Her FSIL is a doctor and all her friends are also doctors or in other very well paid jobs, my friend earned about half of what everyone else did and struggled to afford it but couldn't let her down so suffered financially in silence.

It's just really unfair to expect others to pay so much, unless you know they can all afford it.

I am in a tricky situation, my friend gets married in august and I am a bridesmaid, she is looking at one night in london for her hen night but for hotel train and activities its costing over 150pp.. I feel this is quite expensive especially as nothing is even booked yet.. with spending money for drinks and food its going to cost 250ish if train prices dont go up b4 booking.. I really feel like I shud go with being a bridesmaid but its just turning into a crazy amount of money for one night. What do u guys think?x

Not sure I would be willing to spend £150 for one night. I'd happily pay that for a weekend away somewhere. If its going to be too much for you could you maybe suggest the two of you go out for another hen do another time and do something a little more purse friendly?

That's a good idea showgirl! I think if your having a big expensive hen then its kind to your friends and family to offer a cheaper girly night as well. There are very few people that I would be willing to pay for a big trip away for at this time, I don't mean that in a nasty way we just don't have them money and as the Dr Suess quote reminds us that 'those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind'!

Hopefully she should understand not everyone is well off and can afford so much. That is why my Hen was broken down into parts so people could pick and choose the bits they could afford to come to and want to join in on, that way everyone was included. It was lovely to see so many come out for my Hen weekend but not all at the same time, some came just for the night out, others came just for the spa and some came for both, then some of us stayed in the hotel too.

Costs of hen party's can spiral, there's always the hidden costs no one thought of and the last thing anyone wants is to be resented by friends for having a hen people can't really afford but feel obliged to pay out for. I fell out with a bride who was having a full day of chocolate tasting and a meal out in the evening. I asked if I could just come for the meal out because the chocolate tasting was costing £35 per person (this was about 9 years ago) and I am allergic to dairy which meant that actually I wouldn't be able to taste anything given most chocolate will have milk etc in it. She basically ignored me after that, so I didn't go to her hen or wedding! To me it was upsetting that she couldn't understand I had an allergy which meant I'd be paying money which at the time was a lot to do something I couldn't participate in. I made it clear I would come for the dinner later but she just turned. Makes me upset and angry now just thinking about it.
