    Hey all,

Just wondering if you were a guest at a wedding and you were stopping the night, I much Woukd you be prepared to pay for 1 night b&b?

We looked at a venue at the weekend and I think the prices are ott and to me I wouldn't expect guests to pay that much....

I'll get opinions first before telling you the price!

It depends on what area you're staying. The most expensive I have seen was £200 for 1 night.

Depends on the venue and quality of the rooms, a 4 or 5 star hotel i can see it, grand country house with 4 poster beds as well

Yeah it's that sort of country house mansion near Stratford, 4 poster beds, rooms are a decent size too but I can't help but feel they are still overpriced

If you feel its overpriced, talk to your venue to see if they can offer any better rates. If not, then when you send out the invites maybe suggest some local b&b's, guest houses, travel lodge etc.

Our guest rooms are coming in at around 100 to 120 each, so will be doing this with our invites. The nearest alternative accommodation is about 5 miles away, so will get a few quotes for taxis also.

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

    I would say that's a lot. I would pay £130. £150 maximum.

For my friends wedding in sept we are paying £200 for 2 nights but upgraded to a deluxe room. Paid more to have a b&b 15 min walk from their venue. Their venue doesn't offer accommodation and they didn't recommend anywhere either

For our wedding, on the invites we are listing our prices plus 2 other options for people. Our prices are
    Standard Single - £60
    Standard Double - £70
    Family - £80 (children under 12
    additional £5 for breakfast)
    Executive - £90

Like the others have said, I think it would depend on the venue and how close I was to the bride and groom.

All our rooms are a special flat rate - our guests are paying £135 per night xx

rooms are £90-£120 at the venue, ive put the website on the invites as there arent really any other hotels nearby.
The options there, you dont need to ask people to stay, you give them a choice.
I wouldnt worry about it, the people who can afford to stay will and the others will make their own way home :-)

Thanks guys for your input - I've asked the venue what's the best price they can do, nearest hotels are about 7 miles away in a taxi, as you say, the guests who want to stay will pay, others will find own accommodation xx

My sisters wedding hotel was a country house hotel, very quirky and their suite were £280 per night and their standard rooms £140 I would have paid this for my sisters wedding not sure I would pay it for my friends though.

Our hotel offered a flat rate for room and breakfast £99.00

That seems a bit steep to me. To be honest I would look for a [email protected] or Pr3m1er Inn nearby.
I suppose if it's a grand house or whatever that might be about normal price but just out of our budget.

I agree that does seem very steep, especially if guests are supposed to get 'mates rates'. We usually look for cheap B&Bs in the area anyway, if they are walking distance all the better :)

the hotel i am having for my wedding is offering cheaper rooms at £55.00 for any wedding guests. That sounds more fair to me, If i was a guest I'm not sure I would want to pay much more than £100

I went back to the venue with a carefully worded email and suddenly I have a 2.5k discount- this means that we can pass savings onto guests with the room rate- it's exclusive use venue so we have 30 rooms in the price and can charge guests what we like but if we didn't charge the rack rate then we would be out of pocket, thus now means we can charge the £125-135 that we wanted :-) I am soooooo pleased

Yaaay excellent news Michelle! I love a good saving. Always pays to ask ;D

125-135 seems like a very reasonable price to pay for B&B at the venue, would be happy with that as a guest.

Yeah we are over the moon- I really couldn't face asking guests to pay £165 and similarly I didn't want to be out of pocket either - now to see who else can give me a discount :-)

For me it would depend on how close I am to the bride and groom. For family i would pay £250 a night as long as it's a top notch venue. If a friend I'm not really close to then £80 max.

Rooms at our venue were around £90 a night. We also gave details though of other hotels close by that were cheaper.

I know IDL- yeah the hotel is a very good 4 star country hotel, even a classic room is massive with a king size bed- the exec rooms have additional seating and coffee machines- the delux have 2 floors and a free mini bar- there's only 6 of these so are reserved me my dad, sil and his mum and dad and sister and my other bm

It really does pay to barter and be prepared, or at least give the impression that you may walk away. Venues make so much profit anyway that 2.5k to them is peanuts- they will still be making a bomb from us!

Ours gave a discount to our guests, they just had to quote our wedding and they would get a discounted rate which was good.
