As fairytale has said it depends what you want to have for your wedding. If you have look at a couple of recent posts about how much people have spent on their wedding that will give you a fair idea of the differences in everyones budgets. It may be an idea to ask your father how much he was thinking of offering so that you have a guide to how much to save. x

I think I'm going to come in at just under £10K BUT we're getting all our flowers as a gift, hugely discounted entertainment and the venue is free (we just have to pay for the marquee). That also doesn't include out honeymoon!

Average UK wedding cost is apparently 20k but there're people on this site having fantastic weddings for like 3 to 5 thousand, it depends on what you want from the day, start looking now at what you want and how much that is, if you start early you've got a chance of booking venues etc at prices for this year not two years (just make sure you get a written contract that prices wont inflate)

Depends lots of brides calculate their wedding budget to include honeymoon too. So also depends on where you want to go for a honeymoon.
Our wedding budget has changed time after time. Yours will most likey so like other brides have said its a good idea to ask your dad how much he would roughly pay for and also to look at the forum threads regarding budgets.

As it stands at the mo we are having a church wedding + wedding breakfast, disco and evening reception at a local 4 star hotel....this generally comes in at around £4,000 Our honeymoon is actually costing more than the wedding as we decided to have a dream holiday/honeymoon with our 2 kids in mind. xx

think about putting your honeymoon in your budget too we have only just thought about it and our budget went from £25,000 to over £30,000. i would start looking around at diffrnt venues before you decide your budget x x x

You wedding budget comes from what you can afford vs what you want. Our budgets are very different because we can afford different amounts, but the longer your on here, you will see we all have similar things e.g. venues, flowers, cars etc but they all cost different amounts. I think you should sit down and look at how much you can afford to save each month and how long you have to save. e.g save £100 for 12 months gives you £1200, your dad matches it meaning you have a £2400 budget for your wedding. Until you know what your working with, you wont know what you need to look for and how much you can afford to spend on each thing.

I would start by working out what you can save each month like Kesha said. This will give you a good idea on what your total budget could be. Then look at what you want on the internet, and whether that can fit into your budget :o)

we will probably have sent about £7000 in the end but my dress is nearly £1000, we are only having an evening buffet though so if you are planning a sit down meal in the day it will obviously work out more, and our bridesmaids are buying their own dresses x

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D
