We are spending about 12k on our wedding and 4-5k on honeymoon, I know others are doing it cheaper, but I cant seem to get the cost down! Plus, we have gone for quite an expensive venue! xx

It's entirly dependent on you. We have budgetted £15,000 and hoping it will come significantly under that. The reason it's so big is just coz we didnt want to make the mistake two of our friends did and not inite any of our friends so we're taking the venue to it's maximum capacity x

We're getting married in Leez Priory in Essex, going for a Monday as it's cheaper and it's coming in at about £14k for the ceremony, reception drinks, sit down meal for 95 people then buffet and dj for 150 evenng guests. Then theres just under £9k on top of that for everything else......very scary! But we've been together 11 years, got 2 kids and finally decided to just go ahead and do it. Will just be paying it off for the next 3 years though :o(

omg!!! We're having 140 for a sit down meal and about 250 for an evening reception and your food and dj is basically costing our entire budget!!! Wow!! We're saving up now and that's why we're waiting so long to get married. We plan to save about £250 a month between now and then and his parents are helping a bit though we havent had the conversation with my parents yet. They've certainly not offered yet. hmmmm....
Well GI it sounds like you've been together for so long you totally deserve to have the greatest day of your life proclaiming your love to eachother in front of your closest family and friends x

Thanks hun, it is a lot of money but we looked at so many venues and nothing was right for us so when we both fell in love with Leez, we decided to just go for it. Ideally, we would have got married abroad for a few hundred quid but our family and friends would never have forgiven us!

wow! i have been panicking over budgets, but . . . having read this over, I have freaked cause I was planning on £16'000! my venue price, which i thought was reasonable doesnt seem so much any more :)
£3500 for exclusive use of the venue (which includes 2 nights stay at the house for 23 people - the weddinng party and grandparents), plus £3500 for the marquee and the £2100 for the wedding breakfast. not sure what it includes, going to a wedding fair there in April to break things down.
Not sure what is reasonable though - magazines always seem to give such outrageous estimates for things.
for the little bits and pieces though, what is reasonable? eg. for invites, favours, clothing, hair and flowers?
    any help would be appreciated!

The problem is it depends what you want!
My handtied bouquet for example will cost £65 and the BMs one about £40. Thats using sunflowers.
My dress cost £850, my veil £170 (slightly excessive but matched the dress perfectly!) my shoes £26 (high street)
Menswear haven't the foggiest as we're not hiring.
    Stationary- DIY.
    Hair- still to be arranged.

This prob wasn't much help was it...

Our budget is £10k it's so hard to stick to as I would've only spent half of that. 4 months ago I said no I've done it all before 12 years ago and I refuse to have a glam oversized wedding....then you start looking and you fall in love with everything, it's driving me mad now. Mother in law to be has bought the honeymoon in Dominican Rep for 2 weeks though which is so appreciated you wouldn't believe x

My budget is about £10000 without a honeymoon. Thats £5200 on venue and catering and then another £4800 for everything else!! I thought I was pushing it. I dont know how everyone does it. Maybe I'm just not good at shopping for bargains like you girls lol xx

no more than £2000 for our budget, and i am getting the wedding i want on our terms, hotel venues just don't do it for us all the best weddings i've been too were not in hotels or stately homes, but each too their own:)xx

Our wedding has cost £17,500 and honeymoon is an extra £3,000 I think it is a bit steep and would much rather have went away and got married for much less and put that money towards a deposit for a house but H2B and my mum wanted us to get married here and I set a budget when we started booking things and that is me strangely coming under budget for most things xx

wow! the venue i have chosen (without even seeing as i trust my gut and my gut said THAT ONE!) is an estate, with a stately home and two cottages on the premises and you have the whole grounds and 25 beds for the whole weekend, with no one else there but staff. costs £7000 without food, drinks and entertainment but that could come down £2000 if each guest chips in £100 for their weeekends accomodation which i think is reasonable enough :) and it would only be wedding party, parents and gradnparents staying on the grounds, the rest would be nearby. - realise i have said all this before! but i am just so xcited!
think its £35 a head for food and £5 for the drinks reception so looking at about another £2400 for that - so i'd be paying about £7400 for venue and food and drinks. does that sounds reasonable for what I am getting?
