If you don't mind answering, how much money should I be planning on spending altogether cos h2b is twisting that i'm over doing it at £12,000 and he reckons that its too much for 1 wedding his words not mine. I think it is alot but for something I'm only going to do once I think its about right its not like i'm buying new cars all the time that lose value straight away (he does) I will value this for the rest of my life and he should too xx (rant over lol)

For the wedding, about £12-£14K. Then another £4K for the honeymoon.

It varies massively :) everyone does it differently - and spending more money doesn't necessarily get you a better day! I'm not one to talk, I'm probably going to bankrupt myself :) but if I were less lazy and more craft-oriented I would probably spend far less!

Our budget is currently £12k-ish for the wedding and approx £4k for the honneymoon. (it was £14k total but we've had some input from my parents and H2b's parents so we've a little more to play with) :)

I've budgeted £10,000 officially for savings, wont let myself spend more than £7000 but I really would be surprised if I spend more than £5k tbh, apparently the average is £25k, thing is I'm the type of person who begrudges the price of things, I'll happily wait 6 months or more for a dvd I really want so it drops in price so I know I'd be unhappy if I spent a load of money on one day, but I fully undertand why other people would

probably around £3k, we just don't have the money what with a baby and me on maternity leave. i would love a fairytale wedding with all the trimmings and a week in the caribean. but at the end of the day being married is far more important to me than the actual wedding

To be honest, we haven't set a sum in mind just tried to get value for money in most departments and then pay off as we go comfortably without too much stress and strain! Id advise a budget price in hind sight however I was graduating from uni when started organising and had no savings whatsoever so thats why we've had to do it this way! Im gettin married in 8months and so far roughly have spent £3,000 on reception, £800 wedding dress, £500 mens suits, £250 photographer, Cars £200.00, wedding candle £50. Made all invites and my bouquet which approx came in at £200.00. Still need to get videographer, center pieces, jewelery, honeymoon , wedding rings, and other bits! Id say overall an approx of £7,000! Hope this helps xxx

Totally agree with cece but find it sooo hard to stay 'grounded' think these days its very hard not to get caught up in the moment and let your heart rule your purse strings! Id hate to get into mountains of debt and start married life struggling with finances, think important thing is to keep level head and remember the importance of your wedding day! Saying that if I had loads of money...Id have fireworks the lot!!!! hehe xxx

Our parents are giving us 10k so we're planning everything around that. We're paying for the honeymoon ourselves as don't expect them to pay for our holiday as well! 10k sounds a lot of money to me but when you write all the different things down it adds up so quickly. Going to look at our first venue at the weekend so should be a bit clearer then

We've got at massive guest list at 160 for the day guests (H2B has large family!), so we're looking at £17k, but the majority of that will be going on venue/catering/drinks. I was quoted £180 per person by one hotel.... some prices are just ridicuolous! Trying to do some things homemade though as I think it's nicer where possible, such as invites, decs and flowers x
