    Hi all,

I really really want the ceremony filming, but all the companies are too expensive. I have an old acquaintance who has just started a company and when I apporached him he said how much do I think would be reasonable. I just want the ceremony and maybe a little bit after (like 10 minutes or something)

But I have no idea what would be reasonable. I was thinking maybe £150-£200 but not sure.

How much is anyone else paying?

We are paying £550, and thats him arriving with 2 cameras an hour before the ceremony to film getting ready bits, then the ceremony, then candid shots of the guests whilst photos are being taken, the speeches, the first dance and the next 3 dances. He is also putting together a "highlights" section on the DVD to music. Perfect!

We're paying £799 for two cameramen with two or three HD cameras from an hour or so before the ceremony through to around 9:30/10pm. The ones that I've seen that just do the ceremony are largely charging £500ish. Remember that if they're doing your cermony then they can't do someone else's that day and there's still editing etc to do.

You might be best asking around to see if you can find someone just starting out, but not having very high expectations of the quality.

i would say pick up a wedding video next time you are at a wedding fayre. I was so not bothered about hiring somebody, and was just gonna get a friend to use my Dads HD camera. BUT after seeing the professional wedding video my Mum picked up for me I soon changed my mind. Its amazing. And no amatuer could do something even nearly similar.

they arrive before the ceremony, and film suppliers arriving (which you dont get to see), they then go visit the groom and see him getting ready (which you dont get to see) and then they go to you.
Also walking up the aisle, there is a camera on the groom, and one on you walking up the aisle, and its edited to fit. And its all set to your favourite tunes.
Everyone I know that has had one say they watch the video more than looking at the photos.

So a video has gone from not being something I wanted, to being just as important as the photos for me!

We've been quoted £140 - but because we're getting married in Gretna it's part of the package booked through the Gretna Wedding Bureau. They film from the guests arriving at the ceremony, the ceremony itself and the cutting of the cake/start of the reception - but we haven't booked yet as I'd like this but h2b isn't too bothered.

Its looking like we will have to get some friends to film it then I will edit it when I come home from honeymoon. I should then also be able to cut in some of the wedding photos as we get them all on a disc and I suppose it will give me a project to do after the wedding!

Ours is £450, will include slideshow with pics of me and H2B growing up, bride and BMs getting ready and Groom arriving (as i getting ready at hotel so he can swap between me and H2B),ceremony and all day (apart from when eating) evening reception inc first dance, will then have an animated photo album of pics from the day. Will be approx 2 hours long and will be presented to us with a solid wood case with a plaque engraved with our names and date etc on front, will also inc 3 extra copies in plastic cases. I thought videographers were a complete waste of money until i seen my friends video last year and decided i had to have one, it was amazing!! x

Well I originally set aside £600 for my video and I went about getting loads of "sample DVD's" sent out to me. In post parts they were total pants! and all around 500-700.

I am hopefully looking to have this fab couple that I found **************************** - But it costs £900. Fingers crossed that our close relatives skip the toaster and give us a gift toward the video.

We've looked at a few - prices range from £450-£2,995. We thought about getting a family member to do it, usually my dad does the family weddings but he's obviously gonna be part of the day so don't want him to do it. Still trying to decide, think we'll probably wait and see how much money we have spare once we've booked everything else. £170 is definately a great price though :) if you only want the basic ceremony and a little bit afterwards I'd definately go fo it, hope you manage to talk H2B round :) x

Well I figure I can get family members to film dance and speeches etc. We really cannot afford to have the whole day filmed as it just really wasnt in our budget, but it would be nice not have anyone worrying about it on the day. Plus I don't have a very good video camera. SO I couldnt get a range of angles in the church as I only have 1 as well.

    xx

    Hi YourFirstDanceBride,

£170.00 including legal fees? What are the legal fees if you don't mind me asking? I've never heard of legal fees for a wedding video?!?!

    Kind regards,

    Andrew.

i think it could be the cost to record or ake photo's in certain places.
Up here i know one of the chapels we looked at getting married in there was a £50 charge to be allowed to get photos/videos inside and the videographer/phtographer were only allowed to stand in certain places when doing it.
Just gave me more reason not to choose a chapel.

Our's is £1,295. In HD, we get 4 copies, one in blue ray, we get 12 hours worth of filming which is condensed into about 1 and a half hours worth of footage, i wasn't really that bothered about a videographer before I saw this company at a wedding fare. Once I saw it i had to have it as it looks amazing!

Ah right. I understand now. Yes some churches charge money if you want to use their building in a film or photograph. It's not a church thing in particular. Lots of buildings / companies / individuals do it.

I do find it a touch bizarre that churches in this day and age actually charge their congregation though. I mean, religion is supposed to be in decline according to the news and churches presumably want to get more worshipers through the door. Equally, I would think a vicar or priest would want to marry his flock? Surely a wedding video is a good thing, not something to levy a charge against? I can understand a church charging to cover costs, but a wedding video license to film in their premises strikes me as a commercially motivated fee. It doesn't cost the church anything to allow someone to film there.

When I saw 'legal fees' I had alarm bells ringing! :-)

    Kind regards,

    Andrew.

The legal fees I'm on about are the copyright fees etc for using music. Our church dont charge for filming
