    hi ladies

how long did any alterations to your wedding dresses take? i gave my dress to a studio 4 weeks ago and it was to take the dress in because of weight loss and she said we will get it done soon and took my name and number. maybe I'm just being naive but i always thought alterations only took a few days and I'm worrying that there might be a problem or maybe they have just lost my details to phone me? or does it usually take over a month?
i was thinking of phoning them but dont want to sound stupid if they say its a wedding dress it takes time etc so thought i would check on here first before i/if phone!
    thank you xx

You've been patient I would have been chasing it after a week, for an update at least.
How come your having it altered now though? I thought it was something that was left until 1-2 months prior to the wedding.

In not but I thought alterations take 6-8 weeks and which you go in 2\3 times for it to all be checked

From start to finish I have been told 6-8 weeks and that normally involves at lease one refit during that time

My first fitting was ten weeks before as I tied it in with my hen weekend to help the bridesmaids that had to travel. Then they were done by a week before. However it probably didn't actually take that long, it was the way the dates worked. I would ring and ask, they won't mind if you double check how long it takes.

the reason its being altered now is because i bought the dress last year and since then iv lost 3.5 stone and the alterations lady said that much of a weight loss can affect the shape of the dress etc with taking so much material that i might be better buying a smaller size but if i tried selling the dress now i won't even get half back for it because of other ones iv seen on selling sites so decided to just take the plunge and get her to take the dress right in and see what happens. at least then if it does destroy the shape i have 6 months to sort out another one.
but this woman has been recommended by so many people and can do wonders so i have trust in her! :-S
    (still nervous though ha)
    xx

Suppose it depends on what needs doing, mine took a month in total but that was also due to when I could get back for fittings.

Mine is on the 6th April so approximately 5 weeks before the day as the lady doing it said that was more then enough time :S I'd be chasing them to at least get an update.

was everything ok with your dress? ive already had a dress fitting and going for another next week, they said they can do mine early as it was only the length that needed altering and a bustle putting on. cant wait for it to be finished
