Wedding Forum - How do I fall in love with the dress I...

Hi lovely brides. I need advice, Im size 16 and tried on a fishtail dress that I fell in loved with however even bending over to step onto the pedestal was very awkward and uncomfortable so I followed my sensible side instead of my heart and didn't buy it as thought I would be uncomfortable for the reception. The same day I found this lovely classic satin ball gown, it caught my eye as soon as I saw it. It looks lovely and is so comfortable and My mum even cried and so I took the plunge and bought it. Now I keep having doubts about the dress however when I show my closest friends they all say how amazing it looks. I really do like the ballgown however How do I fal in love with my chosen dress as I don't want to have any doubts on the day??

I brought the first dress I tried on (although I did try on several in total)

A few weeks after I brought it, I started to have second thoughts.

My attitude was - well I have brought this now, and I'm not going to spend money on another dress.

I constantly looked at photos of me in the dress. Even after it had arrived, I still didn't love it.

However, I had my first fitting last week and we made some alterations to the dress - now I love it and cant wait to go back and try it on again at my next fitting.

Could you make some alterations to it, such as adding a belt or adornment to make it "pop" - or do as Emily suggests and try more on.

I'm quite a practical type of person and never had "the feeling" about my dress - I think I just went with what I thought was the best one on the day, and once the deal was done - there was no going back.
