Hot food (curry,chilli or hot pot with rice and breads) or buffer style food, The inlaws seem to think hot food will go down better but I'd like the food to stay out all night unlike if we had hot food once they've ate they may get hungry later on? What do you think? We arnt having a daytime reception just evening xx

My preference if it's just an evening reception is to have a buffet, some of which will be warm. The first option is more suited to a formal sit down meal but that's my personal opinion. That said, I do like the sound of curry and hot pot. Can you have all of it? Sounds yummy. Okay I'm just being greedy now x

personally id prefer a mix, say two hot options then the rest cold? some things cant stay out all night though ie food hygiene x

It would be nice to have a hot meal but then again you're having a summer wedding so maybe cold food will be okay. Things like sausage rolls etc would be nice warm and fresh out of the oven though, I hate cold sausage rolls.
Sorry, I'm being very indecisive today.
For evening receptions most guests won't expect a big hot meal anyway but if you're having a traditional sit down formal wedding breakfast then yes I would say definitely go for curry and hot pot xx

I can't afford to have a mix :( I'm also thinking buffet because of children, I have 2 kids myself and know for a fact they won't eat the hot food The inlaws think they should make a few sandwiches and sausage rolls for the kids n then have hot food but I really don't know :S xx

For evening food,definitely a buffet, we're having hog roast with buffet so the hog will be on a spit anyway so will stay hot,but I would definitely say keeping food out is better rather than having waste age as ppl pick at it all night then x

I would say a buffet We've been to a few weddings where they served hot food and at half. 9 they take all the food away Our evening goes on until 1am so I'm sure people will want to eat bits after half 9 x

I wanted warm, but my Grandma who is making the food wouldnt be able to attend the wedding if she was busy cooking and she pointed out, that she could only leave the food out for so long. So we are going with cold meats and salads. Later on we are ordering sandwich and wrap platters.

decided on buffet food, just seems more realistic, the venue doesnt cater so i have to get my own caterers in for hot and cold its around £10pp so its just going to be cold food but it will be warm (hopefully) so cold food will probs be more refreshing thanks ladies xx

I had this dilemma about my wedding also.
I'm having champagne afternoon tea for my wedding breakfast so that will be all cold food (finger sandwiches and cakes).
I was just going to have cold buffet, until in laws pointed out to me that my day time guests won't have had a hot meal all day.
So, with that in mind i have felt slightly pushed into having to have a hot and cold option (2/7 ratio). I just hope that the day guests will be pretty hungry for some carbs and stodge after only having old fashioned the afternoon tea in the day!!!
I still am however, quite undecided exactly what to have as my hot options, as like i have said, i wasn't originally planning on having hot options, and i'm not a massive fan of hot food at parties etc myself ( to me hot food and lots of beer don't mix!)

I wouldn't feel pushed into having hot food if you don't want to ocean, I love the idea of a champaign afternoon tea instead of a 3 course meal, wish our venue offered it.

Ocean don't have hot food if you don't want it, I spoke to about 20 people now and faked their preference call apart from my inlaws said cold buffet at the evening so when my inlaws were saying "everyone prefers hot" they actually meant they did but they arnt the majority so stuff them lol xx
