Forgive the really stupid question, but it's been a really long time since I had a holiday abroad.

We're staying at an all inclusive hotel in Egypt, but I'm wondering if we'll need to sort out some spending money in Egyptian currency, whatever that is, for excursions etc? And do we take some GBP with us aswell?

We are going to Jamaica on an all inclusive holiday and will be taking maybe a small amount of cash. We have a post office account which means we can use the card abroad and not get charged for it, you also get the most current exchange rate at that time, so we will also take that with us for anything more expensive we may need or want. Hope that helps a bit x

For an all inclusive I'd take a little local currency, maybe £100 worth then some £'s you can change up if you need more but most importantly take a credit card with you.

I would suggest taking some cash with you in their currency, however if you do not get charged for using your card, I would use that, saves not running the risk of losing loads of money.

It depends on how much you want to do whilst your away. If you want to relax by the pool everyday and eat in the hotel resturant everynight then just take a small amount of currency with you (and a card for emergancy's). h2b and I went AI to Turkey for 10 days a few years back and we ended up spending around £600 on day trips food and trinkits, we had planned for this tho as we knew we wouldn't want to be restricted to hotel food only that we would want to get out and explore. And don't forget most AI hotels only include local beer and spirits in the deal, if you want well known lagers wines etc you will have to pay for them xx

Just make sure you take a credit card for emergencies but £100 local currency amd and £100 sterling will be fine. Never travel without a credit card.

stupid question maybe, but can you use debits cards abroad or just credit cards??? I am guessing debit too but thought I would check. We are planning on going to the canaries xx

Debit cards you will tend to get higher transaction rates/fees and little protection should there b e any financial disputes so I would advise using a credit card but with a limit you can handle. N@tionwide right now are doing a card with no fee's for transactions/withdrawels abroad (make sure to check offers like this cover the time you are away). My OH just got this card yesterday in prep for our honeymoon in Aug.
