So, I'm organising my hen do currently as something to do to keep me busy. It's a weekend away in a house in Suffolk and there will be 13 of us. Saturday is clay pigeon shooting and archery as daytime activities which should keep us fairly busy and obviously no booze allowed, then back to the house where we'll get done up, get drunk, put some music on, play games and have chocolate fondue.

I anticipate that Saturday night will essentially be "the" drinking night, with less if any drinking happening on Sunday night but I want there to be booze available if people want to drink.

Sunday's activity is more relaxed. I've told people to bring face masks and nail stuff etc. so we can lay in, then sort of pamper ourselves for a bit, then we're having afternoon tea with finger sandwiches and cake, and then watching wedding/girly movies (I've specifically not seen Magic Mike 2 for the purposes of it being one of my hen do films).

I've asked for £190 each (incl me) so this is for 2 nights in the house with hot tub, clay pigeon shooting, archery and afternoon tea. I've also said that included in this will be some food and alcohol. Essentially everyone (again incl me) has paid £10 more than the activities etc cost, though I haven't specifically told them this, so that some food and alcohol will be readily available. This is £130 which I will probably round up to £150, £160 or whatever but I want to see if people think that the below is enough alcohol and mixers for 13 people over 2 nights? I'm finding it really hard to judge -

    1 X 70 cl bottle of vodka
    1 x 70 cl bottle of rum
    1 x 70 cl bottle of gin
1 x 70 cl bottle of Irish Cream Liquer
1 x 70 cl bottle of Jack Daniels
    3 x 70 cl bottle of prosecco
    3 x 70 cl bottle of wine (1 red, 1 white, 1 rose)
9 x 1 litre bottle of tonic water
    7 x 1 litre bottle of coke
    8 x 1 litre bottle of lemonade
4 x 1 litre carton of orange juice
2 x 1 litre bottle of cranberry juice
2 x 1 litre bottle of pineapple juice
    8 pints of milk

Some of the juices I'm thinking for cocktails because my brother and my man of honour are attending and both were barmen so make some lush cocktails.

Also included food wise is half a pizza each and potato wedges, some nibbly bits of party food, crisps and that, obviously the chocolate fondue and fruit and cake etc to dip in that, popcorn for the films, breakfast (in the form of sausage, bacon, tomato, mushrooms and cheese in a breakfast quesadilla, and/or cereal). Dinner the second night is non-existent but I figure people can pick at leftover cake and party food for one night.

So basically, would you be happy if you'd paid £190 for a hen weekend and got the above and do you think it sounds like enough food/booze? Thanks! And sorry that got so long!! xx

For the drink it depends on whether you all like to drink a lot or not. To me it doesn't quite sound enough alcohol for a big night in for 13, food seems OK though, especially as you are doing breakfast.
Those activities aren't cheap either so not a bad price for a weekend :)

It depends how much people going to your hen do drink.

And without being nasty about your friends, but often people drink more if they feel like they're not providing it themselves. I appreciate they are paying for it but they may forget if there is a lot of time between the weekend and collecting the money. X

I would ask your brother as if he is making the coctails he woukd be a better judge- I would say more prosecco and wine though - I'm sure done of the girls will bring their own booze as well- food wise- again depending on what size of pizza I woukd go a bit more as if people get the food munchies then food will be devoured!

Yes I would definitely have more wine and prosecco, though it does depend on what your friends like to drink. Encouraging the others to bring more booze too is a good idea - they can bring their favourite tipple and it still sounds like fab value for a great weekend x

I would really simplify the alcohol. 1 X bottle of each wine is not going to go very far for 13 people, granted not everyone will drink it but if you do have 13 people wanting a glass of rose then you're in a bit of a pickle. I personally would provide so many bottles of prosecco and a few bottles of vodka with a selection of mixers. I went to a hen party last year which we allowed for 2 X bottles of prosecco per person plus vodka; I can't remember how much vodka pp but it seems to be a popular drink if you have options for mixers. Of course you will get that one person who won't drink the above but I would just let people know in advance so that they know to bring their own if they prefer. We paid the extra money for food and drink too and it was such a great idea, it worked really well! Happy planning xx

Omg Michelle, I didn't even think to ask my brother! Hah! What a good idea.

I think there's only 4 people who drink wine so I didn't want to get too many, and I figured a glass of prosecco each. Pretty much everyone else will be on the "hard stuff" I think! I will have a re-think and speak to my brother.

The pizzas are the like, stupid size ones, whatever they are... Morrisons like 14" ones. However, just providing prosecco, vodka and mixers is probably going to work out simpler... hmm... I might skip the wine altogether as there's only 4 or so of us that would want it anyway. It's only 1 night and there'll be other stuff.

Thanks for the input ladies :) I'm going to go and have a think! xx

The first photo is a cocktail I had at Xmas, sounds odd with marmalade but it was yummy! The 2nd is my fave summer coctail I make, easy to make but looks impressive, it's only vodka, orange, layered with cranberry juice with blue Curaçao

For my wedding I was considering having 5 cocktails for the reception drinks, something old, new borrowed and blue and wedding bliss

Yiu could do something like this for the hen do and get a menu printed so ppl can choose and your bro can make them,

    Something old- gin martini
    Something new- raspberry Cosmo
    Something borrowed- marmalade cocktail
Something blue- gin vodka- blue Curaçao lemonade

Wedding bliss- prosecco with chambord and berries

TBH for 13 people I reckon they could finish all that in one night, especially a hen night and if they're not paying for it themselves as mentioned above people tend to drink more.

I'd provide what you say there but then also ask people to bring a bit of drink themselves to add to it, I don't think people would mind and then if they have a favourite spirit or wine ect they will bring what they want and won't feel left out.

As personally I hate vodka and can't drink it, it makes me sick... but I can understand something like this you would be providing a lot of vodka as it's popular.
