Hi all, Iv now booked my wedding cake at a wedding fair i went to. I was planning on trying to make this same cake myself but it would have been to hard i think, as i would of needed to buy add ons from usa stands etc so it was adding up. I planned on having all but one 6" as dummy cakes and was going to buy the sponge block slab cakes from m&s. But when i see it all set up and at such a good price i thought i just better book it if its what i want. I was at first looking at having some of her tiers as dummy cakes but the lady said her prices would not change much as its the decs and icing that takes the time not the cake its self. So i was then looking at having it all in vanilla sponge which is her normal flavour... Then she said she does 35 other flavours so i was thinking 9 different flavours would be soo good but the lady said she would not have all 9 different as guests would just grab loads of slices. So I have 100 guests and over 200 slices which im having cut at the evening do to go on the buffet. So i dont wont just 1 flavour as not everyone likes the same, And i dont want loads left over. So what would you do, How many flavours if you had up to the choice of 9 out of 35 would you go for? The pic is in my album if anyone wants a look. The front 2 cakes may have to be 14" and 10" not the 10" and 6" in the pic as i want horses in front of the carriage, do you also think that would look ok, sorry it so long im just soo confused at what would work best.

personally by looking at your cake i would go for each of the cakes to be in a different flavour. so i would pick 4 flavours.

im having a 5 tier cake and having white chocolate at bottom, chocolate, red velvet, vanilla and a little fruit at top. i dont think you should go for too many flavours as your cake maker said then everyone will want a piece of everything. but you definitely should have a few flavours - some people hate chocolate and some do. pick a few flavours but personally i would only go for 4 x

I'd go for a different flavour for each tier. Its unlikely that people would want to try them all but it means they have plenty of choice :)

Personally, I would select the flavors I liked best. So if I only liked 3 that's how many I would have but if I liked more I'd have more.

Despite what I put in my previous answer, if your cake is to look like the one in the pic posted by sarah (which by the way looks amazing :)), then I think it should have 4 flavours, one for each section.

I also have 3 tiers and 3 flavours. We have chocolate with white choc chips, vanilla with raspberry jam and vanilla butter cream and the third is toffee and banana.

I'm a bit of a piggy when it comes to cake as is h2b so i say 4 flavours then i wouldnt want to have 9 slices like other cake lovers, and you'll have more cake left for others lol x

I would choose 1 flavour for each tier, (all the bottom tiers the same, all the 2nd layers the same etc etc), but if you want 9 then have 9, awesome looking cake.

I think 3/4 flavours is more than enough, we are having 3 as then people have a choice somepeople don't like victoria sponge, and as crazy as it sounds some weird people do not like chocolate!

1 flavour, 4 tiers for mine, not the response you probs want to year but I think any more than that for a budget bride dould look overkill, cheap and may ge a sense of financial priority failure! Go on what the baker says for number of guests and people you plan to give a piece to, much more is a waste! Choose 1-4 safe flavours, a fruit one if youre keeping a cake for first baby's christening. You cant practucally please everyobe, and people won't be bothered if out of the 4 flavours you chose, their favourite wadnt one of them. People who don't like a plain vanilla/victoria sponge cake are few and far between, and there will be chocolate lovers and haters, and even those who just dont like or want to eat cake!

Thanks for all your answers ladys, Very helpful. Thanks sarah for the poll and pic thats great. Bride of frank that is the exact cake but im having it in baby pink and silver and i maybe having the 2 front cakes bigger as iv now brought some horses to go in front of the carriage. That is my cake ladys picture from a wedding fair she did. She also does halloween type wedding cakes and says they are here favourite to make. Her prices for wedding cakes are amazing. Her best seller is a 10 tier wedding cake for £375. I see alot of people have voted 4-6 flavours so i think i will do that. Fern the cake feeds over 200 and i have appox 100+ guests But trust me with both our familys there wont be much left. We have been to 3 weddings in the past 2 years and not got any wedding cake as it had all gone, and we dont want this happening at ours. If there is some left over, we have loads of people who would love a piece. If my h2b nan cant come She will need some sending back to the usa, His other nan could be living in italy by then and wont be able to fly over so we would send her some.(I wouldnt be sending just 1 slice either) The list goes on. Hi valentina, I wasnt asking how many tiers to have. I have booked my cake its the exact one in the pic i love it. Whats a budget bride mean? and financial failure lol.
