    Hi,

my partner and I are getting married in June this year in Manchester. We had all these ideas to keep it small (30 guests) and comfortable. Last month we were in a car crash loosing some of our savings on the way. We managed to pay the venue and should be able to get the dinner going, registrar was also ok, but we now cannot have a photographer, music, cake, decorations, flowers, make-up help for the bride or any of these details.

Have you got ideas? We could origami some flowers maybe try a simple normal (non wedding) cake, skip the make-up not really important as we mainly want our friends and family to watch us get married but what can we do without music? Can we just play a CD? Does anyone know Photographers who are needing experience?

Any ideas or tips that help?

    Thanks,

    Noreen

For the photos, maybe if you have a college nearby they may be able to do your photo's for cheaper than professionals. Alternatively maybe ask some one in your family.

for the music, depending on what you want you could play a CD or if you have an ipod you can make your own playlist that your venue could use this?

Could you try making the cake? Or can a member if family or a friend make this for you as a wedding gift?

i was going to suggest the college idea for music there are loads of music students that would luv the opportunity and would probably do it for a small fee or even free or maybe try hiring a busker xx

Our registrar told us all we needed for music was a cd/i-pod. We're also on a strict budget so we're not having a photographer at all and just asking guests to click away as much as possible and all share photo's afterwards. I know they won't all be perfect photo's but they will be natural which is what we like. Plain iced wedding cakes can be bought from M3S and aren't too expensive....not sure about flowers. On the bay I know you can get foam flowers which look stunning and are quite cheap (will see if I can find a link) Hope that helps? xx

    Hi,

thanks for the ideas I never thought of asking students what a brilliant tip thanks! Our guests are traveling from all over the place and a lot of them need to pay for flights so them being there is the present to us:) I will email them and ask to bring cameras thanks!

Do we need any kind of license if we play music of CDs? i wasn't sure about the legal stuff with that.

All of your ideas sound nice I will try and find out if we can get anything, sadly gumtree prices are still far out of our budget -.- I know it sounds ungrateful as it is work but we just cannot pay it.

franM76, a link would be great that we we could brighten the place up a bit:)

Thanks for your tips if anything pops into your heads please let me know I would like to make it look a little nice on the day:)

Balloons for decorations? Go to a make up counter in big store and they will try their products on you for wedding make up - just dont buy it but at least you would have a lesson and some ideas? Asking guests to help out with things like cake or photographs?

Yep I agree with MrsCross; try the make up idea and have a look on diy sites; you may be able to find some cheap and easy decorations which you can make :)

I'm going to be doing our own flowers. Maybe you could try the same from yours? I'm probably going to be getting some artificial flowers to practice on first though hehe. As for the photos, maybe we if there's a camera club near you that you could ask? (My FFIL goes to a camera club so he's asking someone that he knows there) and then leave some disposable cameras out on tables for the reception for you to collect after, people love taking photographs, so that's entertainment too :). As for the make-up, maybe you and your BMS could meet up and have a girl's night to practice on each other? A lot of venues have CD players etc now. Maybe you could do a mix tape for it?
(If it's any help, we're doing all of the above).
Oh, and use YTube!! It's really helpful :)
Oh, and you can use charity shops n £land etc for the decorations. You'd be amazed at what you can find in those sort of places:)

    Good luck hunni

A friend of ours had a friend who is an excellent photographer to do their photos for free as a wedding present. Is there a family member (sister, cousin) who could help with hair and make up? Someone at work got her wedding invites from a pound shop. My SIL2B made her own invites, orders of service etc.

    Good luck!
