We were going to have OH and ushers, best man and page boy all in same suits with our colour for the their cravats etc but then someone said the groom should wear an ivory cravat to match the bride and the others have the colour to match the bridesmaids. What is everyone else doing? I think OH would like to wear the colour too.

I think it's nice for the groom to stand out in some way, whether it be a different coloured waistcoat, cravat, pocket fold.. My OH wants to wear a navy suit with the others in grey so he stands out as the groom x

Have what you want.
When our friends got married the groom had the same colour cravat but a different waistcoat to the grooms men.
My fiancé also wants the coloured cravat as he didn't like the ivory ones. He toyed with the idea of having a different waistcoat but then didn't see the point as he likes the one we've picked out. He's going to be the only one with a top hat though.

Thank you. He was going to have the ivory but have a coloured button hole rather than the ivory button holes the others will wear but he wants to wear the coloured cravat so an ivory button hole would look better. We have been shown 2 ivory waistcoats but one has a pattern over the background and the other one is just the background if you know what I mean. OH could wear the patterned one and the others wear the plainer one.

My hubby wore the same as the other groomsmen.we just wanted them all to look the same.
Yes that's what we would like Glitterfairy but then we had confusion thrown in when the lady from a suit shop said " The groom is supposed to match the bride etc etc" It kind of put doubts in my mind but I guess there is no rule to it and we will have what we want. I like it when the groomsmen all look the same, plus the boys will be mini versions of their dad :)

We were not going to have tails, until the chap said if he wore normal suits, a guest may turn up in a better, more expensive suit, so went for tails

Sometimes you have to go with your gut and ignore the professionals, she will have her preference which she may (without meaning to) push onto you. If you want them all to look the same then have them look all the same, everyone will know who the groom is and he can wear a double buttonhole if you want.
CommentAuthorKatieH
Yeah I thought if he does wear the same then his buttonhole could be different in some way. Thanks for all of your advice :)

We're having my H2B, our 2 young sons, his BM and my dad all in the same suits. His dad has said he would also like to be in the same suit. I like that all the men will match
CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
We are going to have OH, BM and my dad matching because I think it will look good if they all match. We are trying to think how we could have his buttonhole different to best man and my dad but we think we will put 2 flowers on his instead of one :) x

Looks like I'm in the minority haha. I do like it when they match but also like the groom to stand out in some way. OH is really of the opinion that it's HIS day too and why should the bride just get to have most of the attention? That's the only reason he wants to stand out and wear a different coloured suit.. which I'm happy with because we've got lots of colours going on anyway so will look effective I think :) x

I think that he will look great Flossie. I have seen that before and I'm not against it. Graham's fave colour is pink so he really wants to wear the same as the others so I'm happy with that :) His buttonhole will be different though and also his waistcoat :)
