I know this question crops up a lot but I'm confused as I won't be ordering my dress and instead buying it off the rack. With this being the case when is the earliest I should purchase it considering I will have no delivery time? Many thanks in advance :) x

I bought my dress last month, and we're not getting married until March next year. It's off the rack, and doesn't need much alteration so will be taking it to get altered in January x

Personally I started shopping with around a year to go until the wedding but I was ordering. If I was you, I would probably go around a year in advance and try on some styles to see what you like and don't like etc. Chances are you will find your dress there and then but if not, at least you have time to go back and look at another time.

thanks girls :) there is one i desperately want (as of yet i havent tried it on yet) and i am soo worried it will no longer be available when it comes to me buying it, i'm not getting married until next september but if this dress goes i will be devastated

Nicole, Are you planning on loosing any weight? If you aren't I would go now. I bought my dress with 2 and a half years (Bought in Jan 15 for wedding Oct 17) to go but for medical reasons I'm not allowed to loose or gain weight so I knew my body shape wont change.

I think it would be fine to buy now Nicole, especially if you love this dress and feel it is "the one". Like Emily said just bear in mind if you will be losing any weight... and it may be worth finding out if it can be easily altered if needs be.

thanks again everyone :) i would maybe like to lose a little weight so I will go in to try it on and check whether it will be easily altered. I am soo tempted to just buy it like i said previous i just know i want this dress and will be so upset if it is discontinued before i get it. i've just been advised by eberyone to leave it in case i change my mind (i am very certain i wont)

If you had a couple years until the wedding I'd be more likely to say wait as you may find something else you love even more... however you are only 15 months away, and a lot of people choose their dress at this point. I chose my dress 12 months before so that's only 3 months difference.

I bought mine 16 months before our wedding, and I also bought it off the rack. I was worried I might change my mind about it, but when I went round to my mums house I'd go upstairs and look at it and love it lol xx

I bought mine off the rack in January for our July wedding. I had it altered 3 weeks ago - it just needed taking up. As long as you can get the dress altered if it needs doing, you can get it whenever you like :)
