you do get asked questions about each other like full name, dob and occupation so not too taxing. They just want to make sure you know each other x

We gave notice a couple of weeks ago - it's really simple as long as you can remember each other's birth dates and the right paperwork. It's all official now so I'm so excited! Good luck x

We went on the 16th and we needed passport or birth certificate, proof of address (utility bill, driving licence, bank statement) £33.50 each. If you've had your name changed by deed poll then you need documentation for that and if one or both of you are divorced/separated from civil partnership then you need your decree ABSOLUTE (not nisi as it's not a finalising document) or anullment papers. If either of you are widowed then you need your partner's death certificate.

We were asked our ceremony venue and whether or not we needed a registrar there to perform the legalities (we're getting married in a Methodist church) and the name of our Reverend

We were interviewed separately, were asked each other's full names, if we'd ever legally been known by another name and if so what, addresses, occupations, date of birth.
Not sure if Ross got asked about his dad but I was asked my dad's full name, occupation and whether or not I was happy with him being on the certificate.

Your appointment lasts all of 15-20 minutes and once you've done it you wonder why the heck you were so worried :D

OOH it's about a week before our licences arrive - I'm all excited again!!
    Good luck
    xxx

    It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

We'd booked our date way before giving notice as we couldnt do that more than 12 weeks before (scotland, may be different?) also didnt have to pay to give notice but they wouldnt process it until we'd payd the regisrars fee for the day in full (270)

We gave notice by post, sending original birth certificates and decree absoluts but then had to go in person once theyd prepared the marriage schedule to check the details (which were wrong, lol) that was all..... all other communication about the service etc we've done by email.

CofE churches are the only ones that don't require notice- every other type (including Catholic and Church of Scotland) does require notice.

Banns have to be read in the parish where you live, your partner lives and where you are getting married if these three are different.
