Ok ladies I really really need some advice, I'm sorry if this offends any one and if the mods don't like it then you can take it down. But tbh I need some contraception advice..... I have been using the implant for years (been replaced a few times). But this lady ins has been really messing up my 'monthlys' so I went to the doctors today and we agreed it would be the best this to take it out.. But now I am soooooooo confused as to what to use, me and my husband are not ready for kids quite yet (maby for another year) abs I really don't trust the pill as I know fur to meany people that have got pregnant on the pill. So now I am sat hear feeling like a 16 year old again confused and not sure what to use :(. Any help or advice at all would be really really appreciated. Xx

Clair, there are loads of different types of contraception. Maybe you should make an appointment with your doctor to talk things through or even with your local Family planning clinic.

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

i take the pill, you can download an ap that tells you when your msot fertile too, so if your paranoid maybe use extra protection durin that week.
I had the depo (injection into your bum cheek!) which stops your periods, but you should stop using it a year before you want a baby to get your periods back to normal, so that might not be an option. Those are the only 2 things ive used xx

I've been on the contraception pill for 15 years and havnt fallen pregnant yet. I chose to take my pill as I climb into bed as a routine then I won't forget rather than choosing a time through the day as each day is different as to what you do but roughly go to bed the same time every night. I chose to come off it in January ready for this month to try for a baby. After being on the pill for sooo long wanted to make sure it's out my system and have a regular cycle to keep note of. I can't see why you can't go on the contraceptive pill and use condoms aswell.

I initially tried the depo (injection) but had nothing but problems with it, I was constantly spotting for 6 months. Decided enough was enough, didn't want to risk trying the implant too, so I just decided to use the traditional pill. I've been on microgynon for 5 years and never experienced any problems whatsoever. It may be a bit of trial and error for you as everyone gets on differently with different methods... your GP should be able to make a good recommendation though.

Im on the depo injection. My periods have stopped entirely and even if i decide to have a break from it it should be difficult to get pregnant for up to a year.
Its progesteron based so it doesnt really affect my moods either. Think ny only ossue is the fact i cant stop nibbling on food while im on it and it makes me tired x

I was taking Microgynon for the last 2 years - have come off it now, but never had any problems whatsoever with it. Having said that, since coming off I've had nothing but cramping and bloating - feels like a phantom pregnancy and not had a monthly since I've been off. My sister has the coil fitted and prefers that method.

Hi Clair. Speak to a GP or family planning. The hormones in mini (pop) pill, injection, implant and hormonal coil is all the same. If you are struggling with one it may be all that aren't suitable. My GP wanted me off microgrynom because of family history so I asked for implant. He put me on mini pill for a few months to make sure it was ok for me and I had constant bleeding. He tried a few different types but in the end gave up with the realisation that hormone affects my body badly.
I went back on microgrynom and have had no problems. I've been in it 7 years now despite when we tried others and no baby yet!

Other thing is the coil. I'm considering trying it but not sure

Hi Clair, if your worried about fertility I must add that for upto 12months after you come off the injection your fertility will be affected and you could have possible ectopic pregnancy. The only reason I am ok taking it is because i dont want anymore kids and hoping to the high heavens he has the snip soon. haha x

I use the pill and it's never been a problem. Currently I'm on the mini pill as I'm breastfeeding, but I'll go back to the other one once that stops. I liked knowing the exact day that I'd start a period in the week off. The pill is as reliable as any method when taken correctly, usually if people get pregnant it's because they missed one, had a tummy bug which stops it absorbing, or had a medication that makes it ineffective. I know someone who had the injection and her weight ballooned. There's the coil as well but apparently it can be painful to have it put in, although if it works maybe a few minutes of pain is ok, as I think it lasts for five years.

The coil isnt painful being put in..
But my body rejected it. My womb nearly prolapsed because it was trying to get rid of the 'foreign body' it was the most painful disgusting thing i have ever had. Just the thought of it makes me curl up aand forget i ever had it.
Loads.of people rave about it but i had the worst experience on it... ... ..

I'm on the mini pill for three years and haven't got pregnant. I was thinking about the implant cause I think the pipes give me spots and makes it harder to lose weight but apart from that, never had problems. Go and talk to your GP ;)
