I have a few things i'd like to get off my chest... don't mind me.... wont take long....
My son was awarded some compensation a few years ago which has been held in the Courts Fund. He wants to take some of it out to buy a new computer for the media course he has just started.... seems simple enough right?
WRONG
I had to pay FORTY QUID to fill in a form to ask PERMISSION for him to have it transferred into his own bank account....ok so thats bad enough
BUT
My son and I have to attend the County Court a week on Monday at half 10 and sit in front of a magistrate who will decide whether he can have HIS OWN MONEY!!!
How fekkin mental is that??? Its HIS money!!! And we have to pay for the priveledge of him having it!
NEXT!
Been on the news that a 5 year old was not allowed to eat crisps he brought in in his packed lunch.... who the feck are they to dictate what he can and cant eat? Pretty much like who the feck are they to dictate when i can take my child out of school?? My daughters father applied for a weeks holiday NEXT YEAR, the week before end of term as he works full on during the holidays - the school have said no - no explanation or anything - just "we have decided that ont his occasion we will not authorise this absence"?? WHY THE FECK NOT???
She has had 100% attendance for the past 3 terms and is doing very well!! Dad will lose £700 deposit because the frickin jumped up attendance officer said no - and has threatened to fine us £50 EACH if she takes the time off - thats £50 for me and Dad and £50 for her - ROBBIN GITS!!!
Who the hell are you to tell ME what i can and cant do with my child???
I wanna punch her..... frickin dried up old pruney cowbag feckwit powermad dictator
Rant over - you may resume normality.....

Thats disgusting if its his money why the hell does he have to explain why he wants to spend it, let alone pay for spending it! Thats stupid!
As for the crisps i would be very p'd off............my girls take in an extra bottle of drink for the day which i fill will blackcurrent juice to which i got told i wasnt ALLOWED to do! If i wanted to give them an extra drink their all for it BUT it HAS to be water! WTF???
And dont even get me started on holiday forms, I wanted to take the girls to skeggie for a lon weekend over the summer but the deal we found meant they would have missed the first two days of school to which i was told NO! why????

What school does anything of fecking importance the week before a holiday anyway? Especially the summer holidays!!! I remember missing the first 3 weeks of a brand new school year because my dad got married abroad. The school didn't have a single problem with it and actually wished my dad luck and said they hope I had a good time (unfortunately we went 2 days before 9/11 so wasn't a fantastic holiday, lol The school actually rang me while I was on holiday after the 9/11 thing to make sure I was ok :D) When did they become such f*cktards with regard to absence???
CommentAuthorKimi
I've just started working as a lunchtime assistant (dinner lady basically) and found out we have to check their contents to ensure they eat their dinner or at least the majority of it. I'm shocked about that - surely its up to the kids what they want to eat???? I'm quite lucky though as most of the kids eat most of it and there's not really any issues. :)

thats just riddiculous! my little bro has just started secondary school and my mum is taking him out of school for 2 weeks to go to jamaica for my wedding and the school have been fine with it, he'll just have a little catching up to do. my mums cousin is coming to the wedding as well, they have 3 young girls (5,7 & 9) and even though they are only small, they have not told the school they are taking them out, they will keep them off the friday before we go, and just keep them ''off sick'' as they know the school would be funny with it, since when do kids of that age really learn anything of drastic importance? the poor kids have had to keep quiet about them being flower girls, i bet theyre dying to tell all thier friends! i dont know how they will explain the tans when they go back to school though! x

my mum and dad kept my 14 year old brother off school 4 the 1st 2 days back this september cos they had just got back from cuba and they had a truincy officer at the door. if he was 1 of the kids who didn't give a dam bout school they wouldn't have even bothered. school policies annoy me! my little boy took a can of coke in his packed lunch as i had no juice in and they took it off him and gave him water! i was fuming x

I think all this is health and safety gone mad - why don't we just prison-ize schools even more - they almost look like them now and with all these ridiculous rules coming in we won't even be able to teach them if they don't want to be taught.
Sometimes I despair at what's happening with our educational system. :-s

hugs hun, I can remember putting a small chocolate biscuit into my daughters packed lunch one day (like you'd find in a very cold place!!) and I was pulled aside after school and told she couldn't have it and I had to give it to her at home. However, when THEY see fit they're giving the kids birthday cakes, sweets and chocolate for "being good" as well as having an after school tuck shop every Friday for the kids. I took my daughter out of school the week before summer hols last year, but they can't do jack cos she wasn't even legally obliged to be there. Next year though after the wedding all 3 kids will be taken out of school for a week to stay with their dads cos I AM going away after the wedding and I AM NOT taking the kids this time!!!!!! :) Nuff said
Hope you get things sorted out on your end it's not worth the stress sometimes for what *should* be something so simple!

thats rediculous. mum always took us on holiday in school terms due to prices. Then again that wasa while ago but they were getting stupid. You couldnt have you hair braided unless you were from a certain culture. You werent allowed anything but black or blue hair bands. Boys couldnt have their hair shorter than no 2 lol. but then again i now see them going to school in skinny jean style black trousers and alsorts.
Youd think they werent your children these days. Ive always been tempted to teach mine at home when there older, but the socialising is important.

Bless her she asked me what an essay was!

schools take the mic now my son is allowed to take snacks for break as long as it has no chocolate (even choc cereal bars arent allowed) rice crispie squares arent allowed coz of the marshmallow basically nothing sweet at all it annoys me everything is good for u in moderation even sugar so what hard does a choclate cereal bar do? they arent even allowed flavoured water! it annoys me so much because all his meals at home are home cooked no packets ready meals or processed yet they tell me he cant have a chocolate buiscuit yet its ok for kids to live on maccy d's ?
the attendence thing is rediculous they do nothing that last week mind u i was nearly taken to court in july i pulled him out of his school coz he was being bullied and his new school wouldnt start him till sept big time everyday the final straw was a child grabbing him by the throat and dragging him accross the playground yet i was in the wrong for not sending him to school yet the school have a duty to protect him
the world we live in has gone mad people who dnt give two poops about their kids welfare can do what they want but those of us that do the best for them are penalised

I saw an article on a website the other day about a little girl (age 10) who took essential peppermint oil to school to flavour her water and she offered her friends a few drops to flavour theirs... she was actually suspended for SUPPLYING UNREGULATED DRUGS. The school held that peppermint oil was an over the counter medication and there "had to be consequences"!!!

oh just found this
......."Parents do not have an automatic right to take their child out of school for a holiday, because the law (the Education Act) reads that parents have a duty to ensure that their child receives an education, and if your child is attending school, that is the way they receive their education and that should be prioritised over any holiday plans."
Oh no that's rubbish :( I saw on tv or online that some schools are dictating what parents can put in packed lunches, whilst giving out chips and cake and stuff in the school dinners - ridiculous. x

Its madness - we used to have amazing school dinners when we were at school - never a turkey twizzler in sight - mind i did start primary school about 22 years ago :\

Omg thats just craziness! This country gets worse and worse everyday.... soon we'll have to ask premission to bloody breath!!!!!! And as far as packed lunches god don't get me started my daughters were at the same school untill september this year and they always took the same in their lunches well, the eldest one was aloud to eat everything in her luchbox while my other daughter had a packet of crisps and a swiss roll taken off her by the dinner lady....... Well the worst bit was the dinner lady that took both the crisps and the swiss roll (that she had taken off my daughter) ate them in front of her WTF! Ok i am going to stop there as it's starting to bug me again, as it really upset my daughter she came out of school hungry and crying her little eyes out. (That fuck!ng b!tch) xxx

Can they legally fine you? I would check out with the CAB if the schools have the power to do that. I would say that they are sick. Adults don't need a sick note for a week off work so neither should children. They are your children so you should have the right to take them out for a week. After all you are allowed to have home schooling. Its crazy the way the world lives and they are going too far. I would go mad if they told me what my child could or couldn't eat.
As for the courts that is crazy. I would ask them to transfer the whole amount on the grounds that it costs you too much every time you want to take some out. Surely the money would be better in his own account earning the interests as kids get tax free and high rates. As he is a child you the parent have to sign for the money with him so its not like he will fritter it away.
CommentAuthorGoff
Jennebel - ive already applied to the court now and we have a court date - we have asked for the whole amount to be transferred. its not thousands, only a few hundred

They say your kids can only have healthy packed lunches and then they come out of school with sweets for somebodys birthday thats jus completley contradicting things x
CommentAuthorTinsel
That's poo about your boy's money. Yes schools can fine parents and we've taken some to court over low attendance. The issue is that the schools have targets on attendance and punctuality (my school's target is 94%) and after 14 sessions off (i.e. 7 days) you are counted as a persistent absentee, which is when Education Welfare get involved. Parents have a duty to send their children to school as it is the law to, fair or not, that's the way it is. You can't make exceptions even at the end of the year. The fine will probably be less than the deposit he is losing though... :o)

Ive just written a letter asking her to reconsider, and if not what are her reasons for refusal.

i had this a few yrs back but wasnt for a hol my daughter was a ill with a chest infection they tried to charge me £110 unless i got a drs note! i work in a gp surgery they our drs refuse to issue sick notes for schools as they see it is the PARENTS opinion if their child is too sick to attend school!!! (too right is it!!)
the hols thing really hacks me off as i work over all the school hols except i take 1 day during october half term for my daughters bday WTF is the big deal? its not like we willing keep them at home all f**kin year is it?!?!?! we love it when they go to school!!!
my friend had the same problem over getting money for her son i dont get that @ all! when does he get it all when he's 18?? xx

They count on her 100% to balance out the other students' poorer attendance. You can certainly ask but to be honest, the governors will side with the Head. It's annoying but schools are tied up with such rigorous rules that sometimes there is little choice. Like the lunch box thing - schools have to ensure they can maintain their Healthy Schools status because of Ofsted and league tables - their evidence is what's in the lunch box (to paraphrase 'Se7en' lol!). Hope you get it sorted :o)
