Quiet on here today! I'm having a quiet, laid back day today - not got much work to do so taking advantage of it

What have we all got planned for the weekend?

So he got discharged at 3am. Just told to rest up. They've also written a letter for his work to reduce his hours. Laura seems to be doing ok. She handled it rather well, but she bottles things up so I hope she's ok. She's off on Fridays anyway so I'm sure she's playing nurse today!

I had a busy morning doing household duties and stuff, just after lunchtime I decided to sit in the garden and still here now. It's beaut. Need to make the most of it whilst I can, work text me asking if I would do a night shift tonight, I said no, I don't like sayi no but I had to.

So today, a normal every day father from the Isle of Wight has made landmark history by going to the high court to allow parents to take their children on holiday throughout term time. Good chap!

I'll be a blubbering wreck by the time I get out!

GF, good.... I think taking children out during term time should be allowed. Ok so in GCSE year, perhaps not so much but primary age, it's educational for them to see other cultures and a good experience. I can see the rule being scrapped eventually!

I hope so..... My concern is that because he is doing well and school and is a 'good' pupil, what help can they give?? I don't know if I'm wasting their time?!

I do have a few school related issues to raise anyway but I just hope they don't think I'm a sniffling parent..... Does that make sense?

I agree about the GCSE year as well, and also their attendance record.

And the council now have to pay him his court fees of nearly £15,000. Imagine all the work that man has done all because he refused to pay £120 fine. Good for him eh

It does make sense. A lot of children are one way when they are at home and another way when with other people. I have one cub who is really naughty with us. But its because he was very much a daddys boy and felt intimidated by some of the other cubs. Recommended that the dad came along as a parent helper for a few weeks (we already have a rota) and he settled down and was ok after that. I think he realised that it was just kids being more boisterous with us than he is used to.
There's another one who is really naughty at home but with us because we are more relaxed and not forcing them to do anything he is good as gold. The parents mentioned to it because they had been called into the school about it and between us, the parents and the school worked out that that's what it was. so both the school and parents eased up a little. Obviously they still had to give him homework but it was the way they were telling him to do it and he was ok after that. It ended up really bringing him out of his shell and opening up as a person.

Every child is different and it is just working what is right for him xxx

We have chosen our rings and had little extra touches added to them, had to give them my engagement ring for a week though so they can have a wax replica made to fit to my wedding ring :( I feel lost without it but it will be worth it in the end :) xx

We tried body combat today, it was hard work but we managed the whole class. They said to only do th first four stages but we carried on, it was hilarious as co-ordination is the key, and we never had it. Home to chilli and jackets and just had a shower so feel all fresh and lovely.

afternoon all ..... if your wondering whats the best thing to do in Jamaica on a friday afternoon when you have a dodgy leg the answer is to start digging some flower boarders !!!!
we were heading to the pool but it has gone decidedly grey dont think that will be happening, offout this evening to a local bar

EmilyV17 i left the school as i couldn't cope with the level of apathy towards me since my op, the stress was causing me more and more grief and tbh although they hadnt said i think they were going to be pulling me on the time id had off ( all of which was post operative )

    Morning ladies,

Turned the laptop on so I could play about with my money spreadsheet (yes, I have a money spreadsheet lol) so thought I'd pop on here at the same time. Received the dreaded letter through the post this morning from the letting agency saying our landlord has proposed a rent increase of £100 a month - great!!!! We were expecting a rent increase now she has handed over the management of the property to an agency, but wasn't expecting that much, think it's a bit harsh to be honest at almost a 20% rise. We've been here 2 years now and haven't had an increase yet, but IMO that's a big jump.

We did get an absolute steal with the rent - the rent she has now proposed is in line with what other properties around here are getting, but that's not the point... she's the one who decided to put it on the market at that price anyway and feels like we're just being punished/taken advantage of for being good tenants who have never failed to pay rent on time etc. If the property was originally on the market at this price then we never would have gone for it as it is above our price range.

I've emailed them asking if we can compromise at a £50 increase. We would be able to afford the increase but might as well try and lower it!!! Feels like everything seems to happen at the wrong time for us - just as OH takes the plunge to go self employed, wedding round the corner, etc. Feels like there is so much going on at the moment I'm just feeling a bit emotional and drained this morning, feeling sorry for myself

This pay rise better come quick to soften the blow!!!
