Awww noooo- I bet there will be someone to swap- there might be someone that wants a late shift so they can see kids open presents etc and spend day with them :-)

I sat down today too and agreed my teams Xmas leave- I've managed to give most people what they want and my boss has let me have the who,e 2 weeks off :-) he feels sorry for me as my dad lives in Scotland, 500 miles away from me so between him and another manager they are happy to cover- yahoooooooo

That's terrible gf especially when you have kids :(

Another day from hell in my world. Received a call from my step dad which I never do shortly after my little sister had text asking if I was home so I said yes why and then asked if I could drive (had I had my painkillers) so I said I could and she said oh can you pick me up from town -- I thought this was a bit odd but anyhow .. I wasn't ready so I sent oh .. Literally 5 mins later I had a call off dad asking if I'd spoken to mum so I was like no why and he said well she's had a car crash and suddenly I felt sick after it hadn't been 3 months since mine! He told me she was on her way to hospital and could I go straight there and he'd be back from work about 30 minutes away asap so I rang my sister and said you could have told me why you wanted picking up!? And she basically replied with sh*t mums had an accident the cars a mess at the bottom of the road so she had no idea other than when they neared mums house and saw the carnage.

She's got a broken rib so only pain relief but was meant to be doing the Yorkshire marathon on Sunday which she's trained really hard for so she's really angry!

Cars a total write off only thing I can say is it's a good job there was no front seat passenger else they'd be lucky to be alive!

Not totally happy with the way the police handled the accident.. They haven't done any collision investigation despite two witnesses saying the car that hit mum was flying way over the 30mph speed limit. Mum is 100% adamant she checked both ways before crossing the main road and both directions were clear and she was watching a car on the opposite side of the road waiting to come out the junction and turn right. She's crossed the first side of the road absolutely fine and the front bumper of our car must've pracrically been on our street when the other idiot has literally plowed straight into the front passenger wheel and door of mums car ... Going off my specialist knowledge I estimate the other car was doing at least 40-50mph based on damage to both vehicles and the fact mums cars been pushed 10 metres down the road Upon impact. It's clear the other driver made no attempt to stop or swerve to avoid mum even though she would have had ample time to anticipate and see mum had pulled out.

Her insurance basically told me they'll probably have to admit liability because the car that hit her was on the major road and only then if solid proof that the other driver was speeding could some blame be accounted to her - so angry! What idiot sees another car pull out and just thinks sod it I'll just keep driving straight into her- I'm convinced they must have been doing something else in that car!! I'm going to ensure the Ecu chip is removed from the car that hit her and have it analysed for last recorded speed which will be the speed at impact which will prove how much over the limit she was going!! Even if the claim was settled as bilateral fault fair enough but for it to be classed as all my mums fault when a car has driven directly into the side of her car and saw what was coming is ridiculous. The front bumper and wing of mums car is all in tact too proving the other car had ample time to react to the vehicle crossing the carriage way... I swear I'm going to pack in driving for all the ignorant idiots on the roads!

Awww soo sorry to hear your news-at least your mum is ok though - possessions are just material objects- sounds like a flamin Ho. Driving though- let's hope the Ecu shows something up or a witness comes forward and matches the account that the other car was in excess of speed limit! Xx

Two independent witnesses have both said the other car was travelling at speed but the police don't care. Whilst I'm glad no one was injured in not happy that mum has to be financially penalised for everything when the other car could just as easily prevented the collision. Sat across the hospital waiting room with her being all nicey nicey with mum made me want to go over there and give her a piece of my mind and tell her she wouldn't get away with it because I know the damage caused is not caused at 30mph but managed to refrain for mums sake.

This bad luck has to end somewhere

Surely the police should listen to 2 witnesses? If not ask for another officer to take over the investigationA it's not right that your mum should be penalised- I get that if you are going from a minor to major road it is your responsibility but not if a car on major road exceeds the limit! Hope your mum makes a speedy recovery and it all gets resolved xx

That's what I said .. I totally get that she has the responsibility to check but when there are two witnesses mentioning excess speed and the other cacar has hit mums square on in the side and made no attempt to stop or swerve to avoid the accident it makes me think they must've been doing something else in the car like texting or something to be not concentrating on the road and should therefore be charged with driving without due care and attention. If everyone just drove into people that pull out on them the roads would be carnage and the fact mum had already crossed one side of the road the other car cannot try to say she didn't realise she had pulled out!

Hope your mum is ok, my friends daughter got hit by a car today as a pedestrian. She's got head injuries and a bad chest but apparently doing ok. I heard about it earlier as the road was shut off as it happened outside the hospital, but did not realise I knew the girl. She is the same age as my older boys

Lots to do this morning household wise. Laundry, hoovering, tidying and getting a dinner sorted for tonight as am working on my annual leave.

    Thanks Flossie & others

I've text her this morning to see how she is and she hadn't replied yet which is slightly concerning but I assume she's just busy, I'll give her a call shortly if I don't hear anything!

Luckily my car has been sat on her drive for the last month with no tax because I have my company car and partner was using my until he got a bargain car last month so the intention was to hide it at my grandmas house on the private estate for my little sisters 17th in January until the spring collapsed on the way there so had to abort to mums drive for dad to mend - they don't have time it spot on cars grr. Never mind turns out it worked out well because mum can now drive that until the insurance confirm its beyond economical repair and whilst she waits for her brand spanking new 65 plate. She's going for exact same car and colour which is pretty brave - don't think I could've got in what looks to be the exact same car after my accident and mums was worse than mine; should hopefully all be sorted within the month and at least little sister no longer gets suspicious about why my fiesta isn't moving!

Attempting to work from home today on my laptop for the first time in a while and just cannot get in a comfy position for neck and back :(

I was cold this morning when I got up as well, stuck hubby's slippers on,

All housewife duties complete, apart from the meal which I shall sort later, I've cleaned the filters in the Hoover just to check its that that is making it poorly or whether it is actually poorly. They don't normally last long with me, and I've had this one for a good 3 years or maybe more. How long do hoovers last with you lot?

its not too bad here. sun is shining and its warmish.

Dinner last night was lovely. we went into town to M1ller & C@rt3rs. Only downside was that I didn't expect to be bumping into my new CEO, European manager and Plant director. Eeek. Luckily were sitting a little away from them so was ok.

Then went up to the Cube and had coctails :)
