For my area at least £70k is cheap for a house. I would struggle to get a nice flat for that. It's mad how it varies so much!

You can get some houses here for £40/50k but you would have a lot of work to do because usually they are awful inside! I think we would be looking around £140k for a 3 bed in the area we would want to live.

Just walked to t3sc0 whilst the rain has stopped and it is so cold!! Managed to get my printer ink for my invites and paid on my work credit card as I have to use it for work too so I can get away with it haha!

You sound like me Emma, I'm always "borrowing" works' printer and ink for personal use... haha. There has to be some perks to the job right?! I would love to have a company credit card!

Just had a new work phone delivered which I didn't know I was getting and it's exactly the same as my personal phone! Life will be confusing from now on haha!

It has come with a case but it's a huge so I don't want to use it haha!

It turns out OH had got confused. If we use their mortgage advisor then we get £1k off the property price.
The rates were pretty much the same. We have done the numbers and using them we are much better off so will use them. Makes more sense when you know!

For a 2 bed here you're looking at least £260k and for a 3 bed over £350k + In the town where I live where ideally we want to stay and 3 bed detached house starts £375k, hence why we are considering moving up to the North East to one of the villages outside of Durham city, which is where OH is from. We would be mortgage free within x years. Just need to find out what the job market is like up in that neck of the woods.

My mum and dad bought their house for 8k! Lol

We paid £145k for a three-bed semi, but that was with a fair bit of work needed. Most of the houses in this part of Cardiff are between 160k and 190k. They're all the same, three-bed semis that used to be council houses but are now privately owned. There are a couple of bits of Cardiff that you can get up close to half a million for a family home, but they are the posh bits. Nearer the centre where it's largely terraces places are more like 130k-140k. My husband paid 90k for his old place in about 2004, which was just one room downstairs and a double bedroom, tiny single room and bathroom upstairs. Selling in 2015 it was valued at 130-135k. We had updated the kitchen and bathroom with new units and tiles and painted, but largely I think the increase was down to inflation. We ended up getting 125k for it as the buyer was insistent that there was a lot of electronic work to do. We were doubtful but knew we could cope with that price, and although there had been a lot of viewings there had been no other serious offers, so we accepted. I'm hopeful that our current place could get close to 200k in a few years time. We might consider an extension to make it 4-bed with a large kitchen/diner, but only if we can get the cost back in the value. We've had to spend 10-15k so far on doing it up.

There's a place in Cardiff that I would love to live but the houses are about 500k. That would require a far bigger mortgage, a far bigger deposit and a far bigger salary.

Lindsey - there's several big hospitals - university hospital of North Durham, James Cook in Middlesbrough, Darlington memorial, freeman in Newcastle as well as another in Newcastle so lots of opportunity for you.

Mm the screaming was irritating but it was a genuine disorder of night terror or something.

Just prepped leek and potato soup for tomorrow's tea just need to switch it on in the morning. Going out for dinner with one of our suppliers tomorrow so just wanted something light for tea. Oh can have it with bread to stodge it up a bit.

Might give tomato soup a go too
