Not sure, I've told him that may not be a great idea as if word got back to his current employers that he'd been working somewhere else for the day I am sure he'd be in big trouble! But this guy said they should definitely meet up for a coffee or something and talk about everything in more detail. It's a lot to think about as it is a big risk, but there is also lots of money to be made through renting a chair - he'd just have to pay his chair rent every week, then any money he makes on top of that is his to take home. Also means he would be classed as self employed though so obviously that brings more challenges in itself... doing your own books, tax returns, etc!!! xx

Also he is training for an NVQ with his current employers so if he leaves there now he would also leave the qualification behind.

Wow Flossie he really is getting good opportunities. I can see why the timing might not be great though. If he gets together with your step-brother there might be more flexibility for him to finish his NVQ first, and I suppose it won't happen straight away anyway as the property has to be found first.

Mrs Wade 2 Be I'm almost 28 weeks (27 + 5 today). Just saw the midwife for my 28 week appointment, I know it's a touch early but she's only in on Thursday afternoon so if I go when I'm 28 weeks I'll almost be 29 weeks. Plus I decided to go this week rather than next because of what happened last week. She's not concerned at all about the bleed. She's listened to the heartbeat and that's fine, plus measured, done bloods, and the normal urine and blood pressure. I'll see her again on February 18th, and I've got my whooping cough jab on the 9th.

Strange how everything is coming at once! He certainly has a lot to think about. It would certainly be a while before my dad and step mum found a premises, but now this is a good opportunity to fill the gap between. He would have to go self employed at some point anyway, I guess it's just scary now that it could be sooner than anticipated.
Boss letting me leave at 4 today - yippee!! I really should do my DVD when I get home but I CBA at the moment. Need to give myself a kick up the bottom though as I will easily fall out of the routine if I don't crack on with it.

I've been freezing all day too today.... After my lunch if tuna salad (not warming at all) I filled my hot water bottle that I keep at work and sat with under my blanket over my knees.... I was sooooo toasty and warm after that lol
Need to do my DVD tonight so will do it sooner rather than later. Could do with getting a wash loadin too and a quick Hoover round and wash the pots!!
Must keep moving..... I'll want to sleep otherwise lol

So annoyed with OH. All he has done all day us watch to and play on his games. I walk through the door and says. We've got chicken for dinner showing me the chicken on the side. Said that mom was going to use spice paper and some new potatoes. I said oh are you doing dinner then. He looked so shocked at the prospect. So I said ok I'll do it then he refused so I went and watched tv he immediately followed me. So I looked at the time and thought it's 7pm, he doesn't look like he's going to move so I'd better. So annoying. Me and dad have been working all day and he still expects me to do everything for him. Have told him next time in going to just do my own and let him do his.

It's quiet on here tonight. We've been sorting through a box full of hubby's old toys and games. Some of it is stuff that can be cleaned and given to our little one. We also spent a while talking to his parents on Skype.

Morning, slept on the sofa last night, when I got in hubby went into a childish mood for some reason, he went off to bed before me, I was still trying to wind down after two very emotionally draining days, I could hear the snoring over the television. Got my pillow and a blanket so sleep was not fantastic.

Both ventures sound like a great opportunity for your OH, Flossie. My SIL is a hairdresser and went into partnership about 8/9 years ago with a friend of hers. They started out renting a tiny little place in town with just the two of them and 1 spare chair, which was rented out. The business took of and about 5 years ago they formed another partnership with a beautician and now own a really large salon in town with about 10 chairs and a massive beauty salon. They're doing really well - huge client base on both the beauty side and hair. They have several beauticians who rent rooms and about 7 other hairdressers who rent chairs from them. Financially they are doing really well.
From doing well financially on the hair side, my brother recently branched out and has set up his own electricians business and that's booming too.
So hopefully your OH will go for it as it can and does work xx

Emily - it's taken this long because they've basically fobbed me off. This time I decided to let the managing agents deal with my OH. I probably pay about £1500 maintainance a year towards the property upkeep and to be honest my flat was only built in 1989 so it's not even 30 years old. All I see for this is the grass being cut (all the time) and the windows washedd and on a Monday they clean the shared areas. There are only 4 flats in my building, but this time I am refusing to give them an extra penny until this has been sorted.
My OH is a Northerner and doesn't take prisoners, so they contacted me yesterday to say they would be in touch and I've asked them to deal with Paul (OH).

It's definitely a good industry to be in as the potential is huge. Like you say, once established you can then rent rooms/chairs out and you're then making money without even having to lift a finger. Great future prospects. Speaking to OH about it last night he said he's reluctant to jump into anything before the wedding as at the moment he needs that guaranteed income, but at the same time he doesn't want to hang around too long as this opportunity in particular could have passed by then. He did tell this to the guy though and he still said they should meet for coffee and discuss it in more depth.

Just seen that Andy Murray got through to the final of the Australian Open. Fingers crossed his wife can hang on for a few more days to have their baby. He's always said he'll drop out and go home if she goes into labour, which I think is right, but it would be a shame when he's so close. Plus unless it's a long labour I doubt he'd get back in time for the birth.

Surely he would have to stay out there and finish off the competition even if she did go into labour. As you say, he probably wouldn't make it home in time anyway - so he might as well stay and have a shot of winning a tournament and then just return ASAP.

Afternoon all. 2 horrible meetings this morning. First call I ended almost in tears. Me and my boss were in the board room just the 2 of us so took the opportunity to tell him that I'm struggling with my workload and working on this one topic full time since beg December (other than the cover I did) as best I can, working from home too but then still getting comments that no progress is being made on it and that when finance as good as said they think we have been sitting on our bums doing nothing for the last month it makes it all seem pointless. He said that he knew I was doing my best and that if he didn't he would tell me to pull my socks up. Just to ignore their comments and keep chipping away at it. Understands my concerns about all of my other work but thinks another 2 weeks on this part then I'll be in a better position to catch up on everything else. Was good to tell him how I felt and good that he agreed with the work I have been doing.
Then second meeting was a department overview of where we are (me my boss and my colleague) . My colleague who knows about this other work but doesn't understand it at all kept saying why hasn't this been done for ever other thing and in the end I just looked at my boss and in fairness to him he did stand up for me and said in 2 weeks time we should to see some improvement.
Just makes me feel really rubbish that I spend all day working and never seem to get anything done.
I was going to bring it up with my boss in my appraisal today but he postponed to to the 9th so jumped the gun a little bit but at least he knows my concerns.

Agree with Flossie, I would have thought its in his contract to see the competition through. Although if he knows she's in labour would he be able to concentrate fully.. If she's due in Feb then surely the final will be in a couple of days then he can go straight home after so shouldn't miss either.

Yes he's been runner up four times but hasn't ever won it. The pundits are saying he can definitely beat Djokovic if he plays his best, so it would be a shame if he bails now when he's so close to finally winning it. Hopefully he'll have his mind on the game and not his baby.
