Ladies, so you all know of the ongoing saga between OH and his ex regards contact with LO.....
Now we have fantastic regular contact, do you think we can request from her what LO likes to eat?!
My reason for saying this is because all he's asking for is chips and sausages lol.... We went to Matlock yesterday and we had a burger to which LO said yes too. We got in the car to eat and he put it down and said 'don't like it'!! He hasn't good very good speech/communication skills and generally says yes to everything.....
My concerns are:
1) chips aren't healthy constantly 2) wasting money buying food he doesn't like 3) we want to factor him in our food shop but don't really know what he eats
I appreciate kids can be fussy eaters at 4yrs old but I want him to enjoy mealtimes like we do! What I don't want is her calling us behind our backs for not knowing already. To be fair though, she stopped contact hence we don't know already xx

Morning ladies. OH gone off to football so making the most of some me time. First time he has played in ages so think he will be feeling it later!!
Was OH's birthday and our 5 anniversary yesterday. He had to work until 2.30 but we had his mum, step dad and brother round late afternoon then I made a home cooked 3 course meal. Was delish :-)
Had chorizo, halloumi and king prawn skewers to start marinated in garlic, paprika and olive oil, with salad and a sweet chilli mayonnaise dip. For main we had chicken breasts topped with pepperoni and mozzarella in a marinara sauce, dauphinoise potatoes, red cabbage and tenderstem broccoli. And desert was white chocolate cheesecake topped with salted caramel and macadamia nuts - of which we still have loads left, plus a birthday cake, so will be pigging out on that today!!!

It was good I have to admit!! Wouldn't want to do it too often though, the mountain of washing up I went through yesterday was ridiculous!!
Sending hugs Mrs Wade xx
And I would ask her Emm, it's better to ask her and find out than wasting your money on foods he doesn't like or constantly on foods that are unhealthy for him. At least by asking it shows you care and want to do the best by him!

That's what I thought Flossie.... At least it shows we are concerned about him eating the right foods.... Junk food is OK in small doses but I'm not doing sausage and chips every time!! It's not healthy and I would like to introduce him to 'proper' dinners especially when we have overnight contact!
Mother's Day, we just do cards.... My mum likes a bottle of wine too but they know we are tight on money this year so are happy with just a gesture.
My ex always asks what I'd like from LO but I only ever ask for a card!! I might like a bunch of daffs this year @ a £1

I don't have my son on Mother's Day as it falls on a Sunday when his dad has him.... He always asks if I want to keep him but I say no lol... Only because it's my only child free day and LO doesn't change or do anything for me lol.
He's only 8 so it makes no difference to him!

I'm good thanks.... On antibiotics for my blooming finger but other than that, I'm good xx
My LO has always eaten loads of fruit and veg, cabbage, Brussels, carrots, peas, you name it he loves it!!
I'm not used to fussy eaters and want him to feel at home with us so don't want a constant battle on my hands at meal times.
OH is surprisingly soft with him and allows him to waste food!! I can't do that lol.

Not yet Emm, not many jobs that appeal to me then the ones I am interested in not getting anywhere. TBH I've not been very active because I'm always so busy and when I do get an hour or two the last thing I want is to do is job hunting because it forces me to think about work which depresses me.
Hope those antibiotics are helping and you're not reacting badly to these ones.

Morning all.
Had a nice catch up with my friends at the AS party, loads bailed on her but it was nice as it was our little group of people that have been friends for years. Apart from one. Then went to the party which was pants, most people had left by the time we got there, glad I took a friend down with me otherwise I would have been Billy no mates just like I thought. She then left and I was on my own so I said I'd go check on the kids as my daughter was babysitting th daughter of whose party it was. She was picked up a little while later, i then went off to bed and text hubby, he text saying he would not be long, 3am he got in. I am totally peed off with him as st one point he said he was on his way. 20 mins later I text where from and he said he'd be five. Told him not to bother.

I'm in the same boat job wise.... Not much appeals but then the ones I cling on to, I don't even get a look in!!
I just can't wait for him to stay at weekends so that I can really get to know him and understand him as a little boy. Don't get me wrong, he's always immaculately dressed and he's a happy little lad but important things like his speech, his understanding of things just isn't what I'd expect of a 4 yr old.....
I know all children are different and develop at different rates/stages but he needs encouraging not wrapping up in cotton wool!!
I'll change that lol xx

Emmilou I was always a very fussy eater when I was a child, often saying I didn't like things that actually I'd never had. My parents handled it by saying that I had to try a little bit of what ever I was claiming not to like, but if I really didn't like it I didn't have to finish it. There would always be an option of a sandwich if I really didn't like it, but I wouldn't get anything separate cooked. My godmother's son was the same when I looked after him, and I came up with a rewards system based on football which he was in to. He scored goals for his team when he was good, and the other team got a goal if he was naughty. It became a useful bribe: 'you can have a goal if you try a piece of apple, and if you don't like it you don't have to eat it all'. It would be good if the ex will tell you what he eats, otherwise maybe you can find a balance between what you know he will eat and introducing new foods. Maybe something with chips on one meal, and sausages with potato on another, then gradually you can vary it. It may also be that he is trying his luck on the grounds that you don't know what he eats at home, so he's hoping to get away with having his favourite every time.
Would microwaving the pitta bread soften it up? I find that works with bread rolls that have gone hard. I usually prefer tea and coffee with milk but at work we have no fridge so then I tend to drink my tea black as there's nowhere to keep milk. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I've got used to it. I still find coffee too strong though. Maybe you could try a different tea, I've got a camomile and honey and a lemon and ginger which are both nice, and don't need milk. I use them if I want a hot drink but don't want caffeine. The other option would be hot fruit juice.

Church was fun this morning. A lady came that hasn't been there in about two years. I'm her pastoral visitor so have been in touch, but never expected her to come to a service. She has cancer which she has now been told is terminal, and she was feeling really unwell, but she started chemo this week and I think there must have been a psychological affect, as she was very much back to her old self. She also said she hadn't had side effects other than the bruising on her hand, which must have been a boost for her. We had cake after the service left over from a service last night. Our youngest member wasn't there as the mum had a caught a bug from her older children, but we had another little one who's just started walking unaided, and is such fun to watch as he's still working out how to stay upright.

Emmilou, my mum was very much of the oppinion that we ate what was put in front of us or we went hungry, I have tried some weird and wonderful foods over the years as mum and papa were great travellers so I went round the world 5 times before I was 4 years old! That said, whilst the arrangement is so new you probably don't want him going back saying he is/was hungry so not much use sorry

Thanks ladies.... I appreciate all views on this as I know if it was my LO it's that or nothing but I can't do that with him, well, not yet lol
Faye, that's exactly what I don't want and I'm a believer of, try it and if you don't like it fine, leave it but don't make me waste money. He's still only little yet so I'm not gonna be hard on him however, I'm not prepared to stand back and let him get away with wasting food and money....FMIL hasn't got back to me yet meaning his ex is either being a moo bag and not helping or perhaps she's writing a list ready for next week.... Yeah right x

Emm, my parents also made me eat what was put in front of me when I was a child. I was never allowed to be fussy. Strange as some of my favourite meals were really healthy but I didn't like everything but i still had to eat it. Chips or any fried/junk food was a very rare treat.

Hi ladies :) hope you are all having a relaxing Sunday!! I'm having a lazy one watching movies with my little lady :) I'm an extremely fussy eater I will try most things but there's not much I actually do like, most of my childhood I would not each much as my parents were very strict, it makes a challenge eating out! I wasn't allowed junk food or fried food when I was growing up either so now the taste of that kind of food makes me feel a bit sick so I avoid it! I absolutely love most kinds of rice and don't really eat meat except chicken on occasion, maybe my palate will change as I get older! I'm very different with my children as long as they try it I'm ok if they don't like it and make an alternative, I don't want them to have the same experience with food as I did.

What does me is in court ya know, she says he goes to bed at 6.30, gets up about 4am, has a play and then sleeps til 7am!!
Errrrr, no!! He will not be getting up at 4am to play here!! He can go to bed a bit later, say 7.30 and he can sleep straight through til 6/7am like my LO....
Everyone will have different parenting views and honestly I do appreciate that. We all have different ways and routines but no way should a 4 yr old be getting up at 4 to play and then go back to bed!! No wonder his eyes are black with tiredness.... Time to intervene me thinks xx

I totally agree there with you Emm!! No child should be up at 4am to play!! Mine go to bed at 8pm and get up at 7.30am except for weekends and holidays they can stay up a bit later! He will be no good for school or nursery and they say at least 10 hours sleep a night improves concentration in learning! I would get him to sleep in routine same as your LO just doesn't help if his mom isn't going to continue it!! Hope you get it sorted Hun xx
