Well done- motorways are scary and you have to have your wits about you, especially m6 round brum- flipping nightmare but once you get used to it then fine- start off in inside lane and take it from there, xx

Thanks MichelleC.... I've not been on as a driver for about 2 years so it was scary but once I was on I was ok.... Like I said, I didn't like the congested part but I'll be more aware next time of how bad it gets!! Friday, I'll be fetching LO so at least I won't be as scared... I hope lol

Oh god..... Never thought about that!! Though its school holidays so I'm assuming folk will get away early!

I might go J28 to J25 on the M1 then come back the back roads...... TBH I'm a bit p1553d of with OH for not thinking it through with his contact order.... I appreciate he has to take the jobs but he seriously needs to consider his commitments better!

I know I'm his wife and these things are shared but he has assumed I'll do this..... Annoying really but hey ho, I've got to get over my fears.

If you are still anxious, then you could contact a local driving instructor - they do a "pass plus" type of lesson, which is for people who have just passed and are looking for motorway experience and also those returning to driving or even just wanting to regain some confidence.

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

I learnt to driv up in Scotland and where dad lives is really quiet, even motorways so when I started driving round Birmingham I literally had a melt down- I was so scared- no one let yiu in, cut you up, beeped their horn, swore at yiu- I was ready o pack it in and that was only normally roads- motorway was even worse and I literally drove 2 junctions came off and drove long long detour as I just couldn't cope

I then rung a driving school and explained to them, I went out several times with them and we drove a long journey from brum to Wales and it helped so much- think it's pass plus or something like that- so glad I did it otherwise I would never be driving!

Just need to gain your confidence and you will be fab :-) xx

    Absolutely Michelle

I know what you mean about driving in Birmingham.

I lived not far from brum, and hated every minute of driving there. Stourbridge ring road was my worst fear - after the five ways island.

Ive now moved to South wales, and so far the roads aren't too bad - Ive not come across one yet, that puts the fear of god into me

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

Well done Emmilou. My SIL had to do her first motorway drive recently as my brother had a seizure, and has since been diagnosed with epilepsy, so has to wait a year before driving again (provided no more seizures). It's so frustrating for him as he loves driving, and is now relying on trains for work. His medication means only one drink a night so he can't even have that advantage. SIL had a motorway lesson before tackling it, but has now driven from West Yorkshire to Bristol. She also has to tackle Leeds which isn't fun, I've only ever done it with husband using g00gl3 maps to navigate. Birmingham is the same, I drove through the centre once and never again. I was so annoyed, we visited husband's friend in Solihull before going to Coventry next day. The plan was a hotel in Solihull so we would taxi to the friend's house and I could drink. Hubby got it wrong and I ended up having to stay sober to drive through Birmingham, constantly on the edge of a nervous breakdown, then drive to Coventry next morning. I can't wait for hubby to learn to drive. He has started, but needs to change instructor and isn't exactly hurrying to look. I must remind him, I'm looking forward to him doing chunks of the drive from Cardiff to Yorkshire and on to Northumberland so I can sleep in the car for a change, especially as I've spent the last hour up with little man and that's quite normal. I can't wait for him to ditch this feed and sleep longer.

Yeah it's only 3 junctions MichelleC and worse case I'll go the back roads which is an extra 20 minutes.

I'll keep going though for now xx

So little man has been asleep since 5:40, after three feeds, two an hour apart and another one about half an hour later. I'm now lying wide awake, desperate for sleep and there's absolutely no reason for me to be awake. It's so frustrating. Once little man wakes up he probably won't nap again until late morning, and then probably for less than an hour. The more annoyed I get that I'm not asleep when I could be the harder it is to go back to sleep. Think I'm going to end up going to bed straight after dinner tonight.

I slept a little after hubby got up. I only got sleepy once Joseph was wide awake. Fortunately he was contented to lie and play with his muslin. He seems to get hungry faster in the earlier hours, probably as it's the longest time without a bottle. He only really has breast milk as a top-up now. We don't want to add a bottle in the early hours though, as we want him to lose that feed not depend on it. Hopefully once we start weaning, which could only be a month or so away, he might settle better. I'vd known him sleep six or seven hours at a stretch from the early evening so he can do it.

    Morning all

Glad they got him GF and hope he gets what he deserves!!!

Well done on braving the motorway Em, it can be scary but once you get used to it it's a doddle. I find it's everyone else you've got to be wary of.. I don't trust anyone on the roads! The day I passed my driving test I got myself straight on the motorway, went on at night time so that it was quieter. I was only planning to get off at the next junction and then come back, but there were road works on it and being a new driver I wasn't sure that I could still take the exit (of course I could) so I ended up driving down to the next junction which was quite a way away!!!

OH is off work today with a sickness bug, hope I don't get it... We've got our newbie coming in today for a couple of hours to do a kind of induction with her and allow her to get used to us and the office etc before she starts officially next week. Also meeting my mum for lunch at $ubw@y today, already decided I'm having a chicken caeser salad and I cannot wait.

    Morńing all

Mrs Jones, hope the ear ache goes soon.

Today I am off to pump and then got not a lot planned. Will go take hubby some lunch but other than that nothing. If it is cooler I may sit in the sunshine for a bit, was way too hot yesterday. Should have gone to the beach really as it would have been cooler. As I was sweating so much yesterday (the fitter I've got the more I sweat especially in classes), I was drinking plenty to make sure I kept hydrated, didn't wee as much out as I'd drank so thought boy my body must have been struggling to keep hydrated and used most of it. Throughout the night though it decided it no longer needed it, I was up three times with a bladder the size of a small country, and still the same when I got up this morning.

We were meant to have storms last night, there was one in the distance but nothing much, had a bit of rain but where it was so warm it dried up so quickly.

The sun is trying to come out here, it's very muggy still, around 25 degrees,

Went to pump and it was only myself and my friend there, so he done a shorter session but worked us extremely hard in it. My legs felt like jelly at the end and still do a bit.

My step son got his results, he got five c's and four d's so enough to get him onto the apprentice he's been offered.

I pegged washing out this morning thinking it would be like yesterday and it's rained most of the day :( It's honeymoon stuff as we're off to Manchester tomorrow for the night and then fly on Saturday morning.

Had a lovely morning at work, had a dog in my office for a few hours. One of our suppliers needed to urgently come to the office but had his dog so rather than leaving him in the car, I told him to bring him to my office. was so lovely.

Tired grouchy boy today. He was awake at 1:45 for his bottle, and again at about half four, then he couldn't settle. He would sleep with the dummy, but wake when it fell out, so I spent quite a lot of time holding it in place. I fed him a couple of times, but I'm not convinced he was hungry the second time. He did sleep eventually, and napped this morning but for less than an hour. He dropped off this afternoon when we went out, but that didn't last either. He's given in now.
