Morning all. Still not slept properly. TGIF!

Emma I work in quality department but used to work in supply chain doing analytical work. The jobs that have gone are in supply chain but doing plant replenishment. I did 3 weeks cover work when the people they made redundant left without working to the end which I had to pick up the role with half a days training. Ended up doing it full time and still being moaned at about my own job. That was in June/July and I cannot remember it at all so same thing will happen again I presume.

Emily what sort of company do you work for? I'm in quality too but in clinical trials :)

I work for a paper packaging company so slightly different

That must be a relief GF, I hated jury service, did it when I was 18, 2 weeks after my final'A' level exam.

I was kinda looking forward to it to be honest.

Everyone. Need a bit of advice please...

Boss agreed for me to take Christmas period off between Christmas and new year but not to book annual leave for it as a 'thank you'. He has now just told me that I need to work full days 29th - 31st and that because I hadn't booked it as annual leave I didn't have a choice.

Just had a bit of an argument and told him I had booked a holiday which I will loose money on (I haven't) and he said that if I choose to take the time that he admitted he had agreed he will tell the CEO CFO basically that the work will not be done because I wont come into work but that he will tell them that he agreed unofficial time off.

Has given me to Monday. I really want the time off but with the cover in the new year and all this extra work, I know its best for me to work. I just feel that it will ruin my Christmas if I work it but at the same time I will be so busy when I get back if I don't.

I feel like I have been pushed in a corner with nowhere to go whichever I choose.

Popped out to town, got some cashola out, got tights for tomorrow night.now I am staying put on th sofa and getting of last night. I've told them if they see me with a shot in my hand tomorrow night, to stop me immediately.

That's difficult Emily. Only you know what you will feel happy with. He had still given you some of the time which is good. Maybe you could negotiate to do two days instead of three?

Congratulations GF, that's wonderful news. We've had the news last night that husband's SIL has been desperate for, her fourth child looks like being a girl after three boys. She had a private gender scan done yesterday and apparently they were very confident. I'll be happier when the 20 week scan agrees, but apparently the picture was pretty clear. She's been desperate to have a girl, hence the fourth attempt.

Anyway you could compromise with him so that you are not in for the whole three days of the only time off your oh gets?

Finally on the train home which marks the end of my nasty 4 day 60 hour stint hey :) won't be home until 7.30 though

However I don't mind working a few days in between as I will be I've got no holidays booked in so only get Xmas eve Xmas and ny day. It spoilt I at my last place I worked but tbh now that I choose how much or how little I do it won't really bother me plus my oh will be at work

That's harsh! Surely it's best to have as many permanent staff as possible even if they're part time ... At least that way they have more flexibility, a permanent member of staff is more likely to come in to work when desperate too but staff have security of their jobs

That is harsh Emily, but perhaps he didnt know you would be expected to pick up other peoples work when he originally said you could take the time. I guess at the end of the day the service still needs to be operational and the work needs to be done, so he is trying to compromise. Sounds like he probably shouldn't have offered it up to you in the first place, but is still saying you can take the time.

This train is driving me insane!!!

There's two women behind me who have talked since they joined the train a while ago. I've got my headphones in and I can still hear them .. feel like shouting QUIET COACH!!!

Then the woman sat down and put her cardigan or whatever it is over the back of my chair in doing so over my face!?

We've been through Dundee and now the station that covers St andrews a big university so loads of students have had to cram in so are all having to stand ..
As per the person sat next to me is half in my chair too.

It's a bit quieter now. Not bothered about it being busy but it's the ignorance on people!

All the lights have gone out in our carriage now so they'll probablh evacuate us from the carriage due to health and safety

GF congrats- we are literally desperate for registered nurses so it's basically if yiu have a near pin and a pulse we take u on- just taken on a load of newly qualifying , get them in as hcas until have pin!
