We have one that does KFC, BK and McD's but I've just discovered this one, there's only a few restaurants on it at the moment but it's just normal restaurant prices plus £2.50 delivery! Means I'll be having GBK more often lol x

Just had a meeting with the head of department about my pay, he said due to the redundancies there's nothing that can be done at the moment but over the next few months they are changing my job description and they will be training me on accounting and invoices etc, then my pay should change. He said I can make a formal argument and go to the head of hr but I still might not get anything and it would put me under pressure as I'd have everyone watching me and they would have to put together a business case about me. He told me to think about it but not sure what to do!

Sounds like a bit of a cop out to me. In our company a formal business case is always put together for any pay rise above the standard 2%, even if it is the normal time for pay rises i.e. annual reviews. I would continue to persue it as much as possible but that's easy for me to say as I'm not the one in your position.. in reality I would probably chicken out lol. The fact he said your salary "should" rise after they've trained you on more things also sounds a bit off.. it should be your salary WILL rise to reflect your new skills and responsibilities! xx

Emma, appears to be the day for escaping bunnies.

Been into town, posted some parcels for the bay, so sticky and humid out there. Sun keeps trying to come out. Popped to the supermarket and chemist, now home to write an email to the head teacher.

I thought that, he has written a representation explaining what I want and why he thinks I should get it but they said because of the redundancies and because it is not the time for pay rises the only way I could get more money is taking on more responsibilities, which is what I will be doing! I know they are changing the team around so I will get a new job title and more money but I don't know when that will happen. I do know what he means when he says I can't be given a pay rise as I know they only do it twice a year but it's annoying that they won't consider it! I just don't know whether to pursue it when I know I won't get anything or wait for my job title change! x

If you're happy waiting then wait a little longer but make sure you are on it when the time next comes for a pay rise. At least you have got the ball rolling now and they know you want/deserve a pay rise. Fingers crossed they stick to their word xx

I'm not really happy waiting but I know that it probably won't make any difference appealing it. If they do the team restructure when they say they will then that should happen before the next pay rises but I will definitely stay on at him about both because I am stick of doing so much work for so little! x

Well no, 'happy' was probably the wrong word to use! It must be a hard time going through a restructure and with all the redundancies etc. so I can see how it might be difficult.. but still, that's no excuse for you being underpaid. I would just really push them when the time comes round and get as much as you possibly can!! xx

I think that's the key thing.. they need to make the commitment now and tell you that you WILL be getting more money, how much and when. You need some certainty as it's not fair being asked to wait for something that might not even happen, or might take a long time to happen xx

Just made me laugh, the guys have been saying for a few days that the water tastes funny. I drink water a lot at work and I said it tasted normal to me.. so they said it just tastes funny when it's boiled. Well turns out the milk they've been using in their teas and coffees is about a week out of date - no wonder it tastes bloomin' funny!

This is my email, starred out names, what do you think?

Please could you forward this email onto ****. Thank you.

    Dear Mr ****

I am writing to you with reference to one of your teachers and their appalling attitude at how they treat children, not just mine, yet expect respect back from them.

On Friday, I recieved a telephone call from ****** telling me that ******* had been uncooperative in class. Normally I would have listened to him, accepted the punishment he was issuing, however on this occassion I felt I had to finally say something.

Slight background story, so far four of my children have attended the school, each of them have had **** at some point. Each and every one of them have had issues with him with the way he speaks to them. I know my children are no angels, I am first to put my hand up and say that, I am not a parent who will say 'oh but they are good really'. For many years, bearing in mind my elder two are now almost 21 and 23 years old, I have let his comments go.

*******, had run ins with him when she first attended the school. I know this was when you were not there though. She still to this day recalls him saying to her 'oh I bet your primary school teachers had problems with you'. Actually, no they never, far from it. She also still recalls him calling a friend who no longer attends the school 'a dumb blonde'. Comments like this have stuck in her head, something she will never ever forget from her start at the school.

Returning to *****, as I said, ****** telephoned myself, to which I had finally had enough after what was said to **** on the transition days. Whilst in a class, ****put a table in front of a fire exit, ***** pointed out to him it was unsafe to do that. The reply **** got from **** was 'if you don't shut up, I shall put your mouth there'. Highly unacceptable. I would like to think you would agree. When I first pointed this out to him on the telephone, he at first insisted he had not said anything of the kind and that he has no fire exit in his room. It's not rocket science that if there is not a designated fire exit, the main door into the room is the route out in case of a fire. I carried on to tell him, that if he wants the children to respect him and be cooperative in class, by coming out with sayings like that is not going to work. It was highly unprofessional of him to say that, and what he has said in the past, as a professional person, he should be aware of this matter, which I pointed out to him. He then started to back track, whether he realised he was not in his usual room at the time of this incident I do not know, however, he then said that off the top of his head he cannot recall saying this and if he did it was in 'jest'. I told him it was not taken that way by my son. Now, if he had not said it, he would have insisted still that he had not, not then start backtracking and saying if he had it was in 'jest'. He carried on to say he could not see the problem as there was not a fire alarm on that day anyway. Hmmmmm!!! Not rocket science again is it?? There could have been and I am sure that as a Head Teacher of a school, your would not like the implications of a class of pupils being trapped in a class due to a fire exit being blocked by a teacher putting a table there. When I pointed out that there could have been one, he then stopped and asked for a meeting about it as I had already pointed out that I was putting in a complaint about him. Asked when was good for me, I said right at that time seeing as I was at the school anyway for sports day. He refused, yet just a few minutes later was seen on the school field.

Throughout the conversation, at no point did I raise my voice to him, at no point was I abusive to him. I remained calm the whole way through, stating my thoughts. As a professional person myself, if I were to say something in 'jest' to a couple, I could totally ruin their whole experience of having a baby, even be given a disciplinary, or at worst, lose my registration. This is the same with teachers, I know children are hard work nowadays, especially compared to when I was at school, but if teachers are speaking to children like this, what are they to expect back? Respect is earnt, irrespective of age.

Now the problem I have is that my youngest shall be attending your school in September, if anything like this was said to her, it would upset, to the point she would walk into the house and burst into tears. I do not want her start at your school ruined due to this. I am concerned that seeing as he has already had issues with four of my children, does he want the full 'whammy' and have issues with my youngest? Unfortunately for him and the school, I shall not be taking comments and brushing them under the carpet anymore. I felt emailing rather than telephoning yourself was the best way, as there is a record of the communication and what has been said. If there is anymore unacceptable comments made, I shall take this further than just the school. I am aware of the correct route to take, my Mother is a teacher herself, and is more than willing to help me with this if need be. As you are aware, I am having a meeting with ***** today, I shall be informing him of this as well, and reiterating my thoughts on his unprofessional behaviour.

I would like to think that you would have the courtesy to speak with him regarding his behaviour, pointing out that it could jeopardise his career.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this email, and hope that we can come to some kind of conclusion in which everyone can agree on.

    Yours sincerely
