Mrs MW, I nearly did, force of habit, you should have started a new one off.

I am sat here like an idiot. Cannot be bothered to move. So tired, think i could possibly sleep standing up. What did not help, after getting a wake up call at 315am, I laid there, I tossed and turned, and was had just drifted off when hubby's alarm went off. He's only just getting up now.

Morning all. Another lousy night sleep. I think I need new pillows, my neck and right shoulder constantly ache at the moment. My alarm won't go off for another 20 mins so I'm refusing to venture out of my nice warm bed until then :-)

Oooh how I wish mine would go off then, need to be up to make sure the kids get up for school. One of my colleagues was moaning the other day as she was up at 630 on her day off and had to go in for a couple of meetings. I told her, I've been up every morning so far on my annual leave at 630 and was going in to do a late shift that afternoon.this morning though I really could have done with no alarms going off and everyone getting up on their own accord without disturbing me,

I actually get up earlier when I'm home because the dog wakes me up to be let out around 6 most mornings. Not as cold as I thought it would be so that's nice. Still chilly but not to bad.

I thought I heard rain in the night even though none was forecast. Cannot be sure though as had my ear plugs in.

Really wanted to make a start on painting the walls to freshen the place up this week, it's not happening today.

Feel like I need to put some bread in the toaster, but also feel sicky with tiredness as well

It was for the best but still I beat myself up about it with the what ifs. They told me they could operate on her but she might not make it or she might not live much past a week or two, so I have the what if I told them to operate and she lived a bit longer. Maybe another year or so. He brother had to be put to sleep about a year following that as well.

It's really upsetting but you have to think you did the right thing; there was no guarentee with the op so she could have suffered more still; I've never had to face a choice like that but it's a heartbreaking one either way you go I think x

It wouldn't have been fair to put her through it GF, it sounds like you made the best decision for her. It's the hardest decision in the world to make but when you know you know. We had to put our beloved Golden Retriever to sleep and it was the hardest decision ever but she couldn't even walk in the end, it was unfair as she couldn't be a dog anymore xx

Some people do not understand that relationship you have with animals do they? We had our dog for almost 12 years, the younger children had her all their lives, the older boys were fairly young still when we got her, it's like losing a relative. Myself and my boys went and stayed with her whilst she slipped away, we were all a blubbering mess, goodness knows what the vet thought when she saw these two big lads crying their eyes out. It's making me sad now thinking about it actually. She was a beaut and such a loving family dog.

And the next thing will be the cat, we got her from a kitten and she is now 13 years old, I know they can live for a fair few years and she looks fit as a fiddle still but when she goes, oh my goodness, it's going to be awful, she loved the dog so much and swear she knew I had taken her away and not brought her back. She would not come near me for ages after.

Aww she looks lovely GF, so happy!

The first dog we lost had gone already even before we got her to the vets, it was very sudden which was extremely shocking but at the same time probably made it a little easier as it wasn't prolonged. Our second dog was very upsetting as we made the decision to put her to sleep and she was not in a good way at all - my mum and I actually couldn't face staying with her whilst it happened which I feel terrible about now, but at the time I just couldn't do it so I said my goodbyes before she went in. Maybe selfish of me but god it was hard!!!! xx

They say with german shepherds you can tell the difference between male and females, her brother was lovely and had slightly more pointed ears (she was crossed with a mastiff hence the floppy ears), you could tell which was male and female without looking down below.

That's a lively tribute gf - she was gorgeous.

I always wonder if I would have the strength to be there if I was ever in that situation too Flossie .. I think I'd be too upset which would make them anxious and know something bad was about to happen so can't decide whether it would be kinder for me not to be there if that decision ever had to be made or not. I Wouldn't want either of them to face it alone :(

If you do it GF definitely get a pot. my parents for a holly bush when their dog died but because its in the ground they cant take it with them when they move.

When we had to get Charlie put down the vet came to the house. She was a lovely vet and the only one we use now.
Beth died naturally. went to bed as usual in her favourite spot under my bed by the radiator and didn't wake up. I was an emotional wreck that morning
