I was planning on sending my invites out by November, but we need to include a menu. We have already chosen our meal options, but the food tasting isn't until January.
I'm worried if I try the good and I don't like something it'll be too late to change as the invites go out. But I don't really want to send my invites that late out.

I've never been to a food tasting before, not sure how it really works.

Why do you need to include a menu in your invites? I would just ask people on the invites if they have any particular dietary requirements and then just put a menu on the tables on the actual day x

If you have a set menu like we do there's no point in sending a munu in the invite as there's nothing your guests can pick and choose about it. If you all get to choose your own, then they wont need a menu because the choices will all be in there? I'm not too sure why you need a menu in your invite?

We've just added a line on the RSVP for dietary requirements and will provide a menu for the tables on the day so our guests know what they will be eating.

Also, before we went for a tasting (we had to pay for ours) we had chosen what we thought we wanted and we've gone for 2 completely different dishes of the 3 meals after actually trying it. You might be surprised by what you pick after tasting instead of reading what sounds nicest!

I need to send out a menu card in the invites as our menu has 3 choices to choose from for all 3 courses.

Ah, I see. Is there no way you can have your tasting session earlier than January? That seems like an awfully long time to wait!

It should have fallen in December but because of Christmas they have to push it back to January.

Are you hand delivering most of your invites? If you are, could you say menu choices to follow? It would probably work out quite expensive if you are posting the majority. Or could you ask them to chose their top 3 choices in order (depending how many choices you have, you may have too many) this might help you choose depending which ones are the most popular?

Did you send out save the dates? Because I don't think January is too late to send out the invites as long as they are literally ready to go as soon as you have made a decision?

Either that or ask the venue to bring it forward so that its before Xmas?

I would definitely be pushing the venue to bring it forward. I've not done the whole tasting thing but it seems like a long time to wait.. If you explain to them that you need to get the invitations out with the menu choices to your guests then surely they should understand and try their best to be accommodating x

going to our venue tomorrow to have our tasting session and I was too wondering if we should include the menu in the invites just in case some guests have allergies ect.
Im also trying to think of questions I need to ask/confirm while im there, any advice on what I should ask them?

I wouldn't Amanda, I would just have an option on the invites for them to say if they have any allergies/dietary requirements x

I might be misunderstanding but are you saying that your guests will get to pick out of 3 options for each course? If so then would it make a difference if you send the menu before you have a tasting? I doubt you'd be trying 9 courses (unless you were paying for it separately). Sorry if I've misunderstood! Xxx

We couldn't provide our guests with a choice. We had to pick the food at our tasting. I didn't put a menu in the invites as they had no choice. We put them on the tables though on the day, so guests could see what they were going to have

I thought they had to chose 3 from a bigger list and guests chose which of the 3 they want in advance? I read that she has chosen the three, but might change her mind dependant on taste trial.

We had a set menu for ours. When do they want to know the final choices? I would be tempted to send the invitations out earlier and then send the menu suggestions after the tasting. Alternatively, do you have to offer your guests the choices? A lot of people won't necessarily expect a choice, they'll be happy with a set menu, and will find out on the day what they're getting. Then you just need to ask people to include any dietary requirements with their RSVPs, and you can choose alternatives for them, or offer them a choice of alternatives depending on the requirement and how many people have the same issue. We had three vegetarians and a meat main course, so we told them the two vegetarian options and went with the majority.

We didn't send out the menu with our invites, we just gave people a choice of "meat" or "vegetarian" and asked for info of any dietary requirements i.e. allergies or if someone is diabetic. No need for a full menu x

I sent out save the date magnets before so guests know the date.
I think I'll do the food tasting in January and then send out the invites, they'll need to RSVP by the beginning of March.
